Monica is able to integrate her knowledge of mental health issues to help individuals and their families problem-solve, overcome personal issues, and work toward positive home and life experiences. She is a firm believer in empowering families to effectively intervene with individuals who may be struggling with addiction issues, as well as managing the myriad of other dynamics often associated with helping any family member overcome substance abuse problems. Through her strength-based, holistic approach, she strives to help individuals achieve their goals. She believes in treating the whole person and that the most effective resolution of problems include addressing a person's body, mind, and soul.
Monica enjoys engaging individuals in the process of positive change. Her therapeutic style is caring, encouraging and individualized in order to help each person learn skills to work with their emotions, see situations without judgment and recognize solutions that fit personal values. Monica works closely with clients in examining their beliefs in order to develop newer, healthier perspectives of themselves, others, and the world while providing support and insight to effectively address challenges. She utilizes an approach that includes interdisciplinary collaboration from therapeutic team members and caregivers to determine the client’s needs, concerns, and goals. The team will integrate complimentary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. She is a devoted advocate for individualized treatment plans, because she knows the incredible difference that appropriate interventions offer for people who are struggling.
Monica currently maintains a private practice and is pleased to offer an office location in Long Beach specializing in the treatment of children, adolescents, and their families, as well as individuals and couples. Focus is on addictions, dual diagnosis, trauma, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, child/sexual abuse, domestic violence, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, mood disorders, grief and loss, school and behavioral issues, ADHD/ADD, personality disorders, self-harm, self-esteem, and interpersonal and relationship issues.

Bio
Monica L. Martocci, MA, LMFT received an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Colorado, and is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (License #MFC36882). Monica has over 20 years of clinical experience in diverse settings, and has developed, implemented, and supervised several programs that are recognized locally and nationally as being exemplary. She has a broad background in program development and service delivery, clinical training and supervision for residential treatment and outpatient day treatment programs working primarily with dually diagnosed adolescents and adults, and their families.
Monica has varied experience with different client populations in a wide variety of settings, including those with severe and persistent mental illness, veterans, homeless, children/adolescents/adults and their families. She has worked closely with the Dept. of Mental Health, Dept. of Children and Family Services, Probation including Juvenile and Adult Justice systems, Drug Court and Veterans Court, LAUSD and school settings, Hospitals, Regional Centers, Adoptions, VA, Clinical Studies/Drug Research, and has consulted on a number of television shows as an expert on families, addictions, eating disorders, and trauma. In addition, she is a seasoned presenter in nationwide conferences on the topics of trauma and recovery, co-occurring disorders, parent-child relational issues, and adolescents.
