Nancy Korngold, LMHC, CASAC
I am a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), with an additional specialty in treating gambling addiction (CASAC-G). I have a masters degree in rehabilitation counseling, which is based on the therapeutic concept of empowering individuals to reach their maximum potential. I work with diverse populations, and have extensive clinical experience in individual and group counseling, keeping current with new techniques and research in the field of counseling and psychotherapy.
I have the counseling expertise to teach you the skills that will improve your relationship to yourself and to others. This leads to personal growth and a healthier lifestyle. I also counsel couples how to communicate, leading to a more satisfying and solid relationship. I will support you through the process of learning how to change negative thoughts and feelings such as depression and anxiety, low self-esteem, or misplaced anger, while you replace them with positive thoughts and feelings. You will also unlearn negative behavior patterns and thereby improve your quality of life.
Throughout my many years in counseling practice, I have learned that it is you yourself who have the answers to your problems. My role is to help you find them. I am committed to empowering you to use your natural abilities and inner strengths in a warm, nurturing, nonjudgmental, and completely confidential atmosphere.
