Nona Owens, Ph.D.
Child, Adult, and Family Therapy
I Work with Those Who Are Anxious, Depressed, or Angry.
580 Springridge Rd.
Suite 4-A
I work with both children and adults who are experiencing distress due to behavior or emotional conflict. The typical case for children is in those experiencing behavior problems, or who may be nervous or depressed. I strive to help families who have had a loss in the family, whether through abandonment, death, or a divorce.
Relationship problems are the most common problem I work with in adults. Co-dependency and divorce recovery are associated problems. I deal with those who are experiencing anxiety or panic attacks. I also strive to help those who are depressed, or may be grieving a loss of a loved one or job.
I provide evaluation and counseling when custody is at issue in a divorce. I work with attorneys, and I provide testimony in court. In these instances, my primary responsibility is to the welfare of the child, regardless of who is paying me. I encourage both parents to become a part of the process.

Bio
I have over 30 years experience in the practice of psychology. Before I became licensed as a psychologist, I worked as a Special Education Teacher for children with learning problems and developmental delay, and as a School Psychologist. After obtaining my license, I worked at a Mental Health Center where I provided evaluation and treatment for children and adults. I left that program to help develop an inpatient school and theraputic program for adolescents. For fourteen years, I did mental and intellectual evaluations for my state in an attempt to help determine disability in the people I evaluated. During this time, I also worked part time as a family therapist in a long term treatment program for those with substance abuse problems, as well as maintained a limited private practice. From there, I began working with the geriatric population in nursing homes where I provided therapy as well as consultation to staff. I then began to work in a training school setting as a psychologist with teens who had behavior and emotional problems. Over the years, I have also taught undergraduate and graduate courses at four different colleges or universities. I returned to private practice in 2010.
