Find Solutions to Your Concerns in a Safe Confidential Place
Robert J. Smith, LCSW
My approach to therapy is to at first listen to and understand the issues that are most important to you. Your feelings are valid, and I want to understand you and the concerns that you have.
My role is to guide you in finding new solutions to problems, new ways in which to view issues, and to increase the possible options about how to address your concerns. I believe that therapy is a partnership. We can work together to identify what is concerning you, what you want to change, and to set realistic goals.
We can discuss a time frame for therapy. Some people want short-term specific goal oriented therapy. You might need to address something that is currently occurring that is very troublesome. There may be specific life issues or problems that you are experiencing for which you want relief or to become unstuck. Some of these issues might be related to family, marital, or other relationship problems, anxiety, grief, employment, or other life issues and stressors.
You may want longer-term therapy. Perhaps you are looking for support in managing and coping with a chronic medical condition, pain, mental health issues, a loss, trauma, or alcohol and substance abuse. Whatever your issues and concerns, we can work together to meet your specific needs.
I wish to offer you a safe, quiet, pleasant atmosphere in which to discuss your personal concerns. All information discussed is kept strictly confidential under the State of Illinois and Federal HIPAA Laws.
Feel free to contact me with your questions and to further inquire about whether I am the right therapist for you.
