Have You Considered Using Music Therapy
to Access Those Deeper Concerns in Your Life?
Individuals who seek treatment through Guided Imagery and Music typically have a sophisticated understanding of the use of metaphor, imagery, and the arts in healing deeper perhaps unconscious life concerns. Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) is the use of listening to specifically chosen classical music in a deeply relaxed state while thoughts, feelings, and images spontaneously emerge. As a trained music therapist, I will help guide you to understanding your own internal experiences. Commonly, art media is incorporated into the GIM process.

Bio
Dr. Sammi Siegel began her career as the music therapist and activities director at Miami Children's Hospital in adolescent psychiatry. In addition, she worked with the orthopedic surgery department with patients undergoing surgery for Scoliosis. Dr. Siegel created a protocol of music, relaxation training, and imagery to aid in the post-operative recovery process. Patients receiving the music therapy intervention where found to, overall, request fewer pain medications than those patients not receiving the music therapy intervention. In 1990, Dr. Siegel moved to Michigan and taught music therapy courses at Wayne State University in Detroit and at the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada for five years. She then began her private practice in Michigan after completing a Psychology Specialist Degree in Humanistic Psychotherapy. Dr. Siegel moved back to Miami in 2007 and began her private practice in Coral Gables.
