New Directions provides counseling, coaching and family mediation services. Sandy Davidson is a licensed counselor in private practice in the Charleston Area with offices in Goose Creek and North Charleston. She offers individual, marriage and family, group counseling; and life coaching. Sandy is a seasoned counselor whose training and experience has prepared her to deal with a variety of client problems. She addresses all types of relationship issues, parenting, anxiety, depression, codependency, stress, anger management, and trauma. She especially likes to help individuals and families deal with the trauma of divorce.
As a participating provider with many Employee Assistance Programs she provides brief therapy solutions to a wide variety of problems. Sandy's holistic therapeutic style is grounded in the principles of positive psychology, the science of change, and cognitive behavioral techniques. She has rescently added EMDR as a therapeutic modality. She works to quickly identify the problem, apply an appropriate solution, and assist you in moving forward toward a happy and satisfied life. She gives you tools to use for a lifetime. She has a special heart for those with Bipolar Disorder. Sandy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Mentor Coach, Certified Financial Independence Consultant, and Certified Family Court Mediator.
Education/Training
Undergraduate degree from Newberry College, Newberry, SC. Graduate degree in Social Work (Masters) from University of South Carolina College of Social Work. Coach training from MentorCoach. EMDR training from EMDRIA approved program.
Bio
The therapist/coach is a seasoned counselor with over 30 years of mental health counseling, private practice, teaching, and coaching experience. She earned a Master of Social Work degree from USC and is licensed as an independent social worker for clinical practice (LISW-CP). She is an approved family court mediator, certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, and holds the Certified Mentor Coach credential. She qualifies to be an ACC (Associate Certified Coach) with the International Coach Federation.
Sandy is a Certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapist and has been amazed at the great results it has produced for her clients.
