Counseling and Therapy
Thank you for considering me as a resource at this time in your life. I specialize in individual counseling, couples counseling, teen counseling, and marriage counseling. You may have found yourself at this site because you are looking for ways to improve your relationship or marriage, or you may be looking for ways to reconnect, or you might be considering making a change in your life. If anger, depression, or anxiety is impacting your life, you will gain insight and learn new and more productive ways to cope with and manage your emotions. Counseling can also help you with improving your communication and listening skills, improving your self-esteem, and boosting your self-confidence.
During our work together you will discover and nurture your strengths, challenge your beliefs or behaviors that are no longer helpful, gain awareness and empowerment, and resolve experiences that could be causing you pain or are holding you back. In a comfortable, serene, and supportive atmosphere, I offer an individualized approach tailored to meet your specific needs to help you reach your full potential so you may experience the satisfying life you desire.
If you are interested in pre-marital, marriage, or couples counseling, I utilize the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy, which is based on the research by Dr. John Gottman that began in the 1970's and continues to this day. From this research, a method of therapy was created that emphasizes a "nuts-and-bolts" approach to improving your relationship. This method is designed to help teach specific tools to deepen friendship and intimacy in your relationship. To help you productively manage conflicts, you will be given methods to manage problems and gridlocked (or perpetual) issues. We will work together to help you appreciate your relationship's strengths and to gently navigate through its vulnerabilities.

Bio
As a passionate therapist, teen counselor, and couple counselor, I am committed to excellence and integrity. As such, I participate in ongoing professional development and post-graduate workshops and training throughout the year. I completed one of the most rewarding and intensive training experiences with Felicia Carroll, founder of the West Coast Institute for Gestalt Play Therapy. Most recently, I've become a StoryPlay practitioner and participated in ongoing training with Dr. Joyce Mills. StoryPlay is a resiliency based model that draws on inner resources and strengths to foster growth and change.
Furthermore, I participated in a Gottman Method Couples Therapy consultation group and completed training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Drs. Julie and John Gottman are the nation's foremost researchers in parenting, marriage, and relationships. I also am a participant in the couples therapy training program with Ellyn Bader and the Couples Institute.
As an interactive therapist, my goal is to help you challenge your beliefs or behaviors that are no longer helpful, gain awareness and empowerment, and resolve experiences that could be causing you pain or shame. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, I'll work with you to help you better understand and resolve the challenges you are experiencing. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal challenges in a warm, respectful and empowering environment. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I support clients to build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
It has been my professional and personal joy to assist individuals and families to improve their quality of life for over 20 years. Through work in health clinics, socialization and crisis centers, schools, summer camps, and private practice, I've supported many families and individuals as they have developed resources, recognized their resources, and resolved obstacles, so they could accomplish their goals and lead more fulfilling lives.
