If you can’t seem to make things work for you, and you want to talk to someone about how to change that, I can help. My job is to provide you with insight into how you get in your way of getting the things you want in life, so you can make changes that will serve you better than the same old same old way of doing things that keeps you stuck in patterns with undesirable outcomes. No doubt about it, change is hard. You’ve been who you are for a long time, and are used to navigating our difficult world in a particular way. The problem is, it just isn’t working. So it’s not surprising that you’re confused, conflicted, anxious or depressed.
I have a flexible approach to working with people, since one size does not fit all. My twelve years of training and over a quarter century’s worth of experience working with people has paid off. I’ve learned to listen in a non-judgmental way, and to help you feel safe in revealing your fears, feelings and thoughts, all in your own time, at your own pace. There may be things you want to change about yourself, and other things you want to keep. You get to make all the decisions about who you are and want to be. I’m here to point out what might work better for you, but not to tell you what to do.
There’s no magic that can turn things around instantly, but if you’re committed to the process you can make significant strides in a reasonable period of time. I invite you to come in for a no-obligation consultation to see if you feel comfortable talking with me about what in your life is not how you want it to be. If you choose not to continue with me, there's no charge for the consultation. |

Some people know from the time they’re five what they want to be when they grow up. I had no idea. I sat on the school bus and made up stories about people across from me, and then “tried them on” to see if it fit. It never did. But interest in people led me to a college program in Social Work, but shortly after I got there I realized didn’t want to be a Social Worker.
I was still deeply interested in the people I met, some of whom became good friends. There was plenty of opportunity. The dorms, cafeteria, library and student union were full of unique people with interesting backgrounds. After college, I took two gap years and did some fairly extensive travel – on a shoestring – an experience about living a different lifestyle that greatly affected where I was heading. All of that gave me even more grist for my ever-turning mill.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. I happened to take a French course in college (I’d studied other languages before that), and fell in love with the sound of the language, and got my degree in French literature, and continued to complete a Masters degree after my returning to the U.S. So here I was with an advanced French degree, but I had studied it because I loved it, not because I wanted to teach or become a translator, which is what everyone I knew assumed would happen.
I moved to New York because I’d always wanted to live here. The city radiated energy I soaked up and ran off of. But I had to make a living, so I took various jobs just to pay the rent. But I wasn’t happy. I felt adrift, and at a loss for what I would be in the long term. A friend suggested therapy, and that started a long journey that led me to becoming the person I am today. I am eternally grateful to have had the opportunity to unburden myself to a professional who was patient, compassionate, and understanding, and who helped guide me to eventually choose the path of training to become a therapist.
I love what I do. I love helping other people untangle the knots they find themselves tied up in, and to unravel the unhelpful patterns that keep them stuck in patterns that don’t serve them well anymore (if they ever did). It’s incredibly rewarding, and my reward is seeing yours. So again, I invite you to come in for a no-obligation initial consultation, for which there is no charge if you decide you don’t want to start the process to fulfilling your life’s dreams, even if you don’t know what they are. |
