Connect with your Best Life and Relationships
Life Connections Counseling
Are you struggling to connect with your child? Do you have difficulty setting boundaries and getting results?
PARENTING IS HARD. There are no books or guidelines to follow. Sometimes you just sit there and think, “Where did I go wrong?” or “How did we end up like this?” You want to be a support and help your child while also setting appropriate boundaries and providing a good example. I help parents connect with their children and bridge the gap in communication. Children and adolescents tend to feel misunderstood by adults, especially their parents. My specialty is assisting in creating that understanding relationship, while also allowing parents to maintain the appropriate boundaries necessary to allow their children to thrive.
Education/Training
•Master of Science Degree in Clinical Counseling from California Lutheran University, Thousand Oaks.
•Licensed to practice marriage and family therapy by the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences. License #100073.
•Therapy approaches include integrative, CBT, family systems, humanistic and person-centered.
•Experience working with youth designated to the Resource Program through their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
•Specialization in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, with an emphasis on Suicide Risk and Assessment.
Bio
My specialty is working with children, young adults and families in crisis. Crisis can manifest in many different ways within a family system such as divorce, loss of a loved one, increased mental health symptoms, and ruptured relationships. My passion for working with children started when I worked in an elementary school with children that struggled with learning disabilities. I further enhanced my love for working with children when I was a Clinical Case Manager for the Children’s Intensive Response Team in Ventura County.
Through this experience, I learned to work with families and children that struggled with suicidality and self-injury. These individuals came from many backgrounds throughout Ventura County. Most recently, I’ve worked with youth that is in the Foster Care System or placed in a residential program through the Probation Department. In addition to this work experience, I have found through my work in Private Practice that I have also developed a passion for working with young adults, specifically ages 18 – 30 years old. I help them solidify their identity outside of their family system. Using Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral therapies, we can establish a foundation and build self-worth.
