Amie respects those who are asking for assistance in their lives because she knows that it takes courage to ask for help. She believes that sometimes people need a non-judgmental outsider to listen to their experiences and struggles. Amie believes in positive change and that change can look and feel different for everyone. With a warm and welcoming personality, Amie takes an individualized approach that is different and unique with every client. Amie develops a strong therapeutic relationship by using collaboration and providing a safe environment for her clients. Amie takes a Cognitive Behavioral Therapeutic approach, especially with children and adolescents, by assisting clients in understanding how their thoughts and feelings impact their behaviors. She also uses a humanistic approach with all clients. She uses traditional therapeutic approaches but also incorporates creative therapies such as music and play therapy to create a positive experience, especially for children and adolescents.
Amie received her Master’s Degree in Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Amie has experience working with children and adolescents in residential and clinical outpatient settings. She has worked with families and older adults in clinical outpatient settings. Amie has experience leading group therapies for young adults to older adults. She has experience with crisis intervention, mood disorders, trauma, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct, and anxiety. Amie has worked with male and female adolescents that struggle with body image, social, behavioral, and emotional struggles, and family conflicts. She has worked with young adults that struggle with life transitions and independent living skills. Amie has worked with older adults in relationship struggles and life transitions.
