I believe that the therapeutic relationship between client and counselor is the most important aspect of therapy. I also believe that we are all unique with unique life experiences. My approach to counseling is that no one is an island, and external environments and experiences affect us all. Therapy is work, but we will work together towards your goals. My personal experience as a partner to an active member of the military turned veteran with PTSD, parent to two active children, and caregiver to aging ill parents has all taught me to believe in progress, not perfection, and that change takes time and patience.
I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Wellness Education, which expanded my belief that whole life health is a happy relationship between mind, body and spirit. During my years in graduate school earning my Master’s Degree in Family Counseling, I worked with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I worked in a residential treatment facility, in the schools, and at an agency. I have had special training with couples and families, and hold a dual licensure as an LPC and an AMFT.
On a personal note, I love spending time with my partner, my kids, and my friends. I have two enormous dogs that I love to hike with and teach new tricks. I enjoy gardening, reading, listening to music, and spending as much active time outdoors as possible.
