Welcome to Balance Counseling, LLC. I am Kara McArtor, MA, NCC and I am the owner and sole operator of Balance Counseling, LLC. I offer both couples and individual counseling as well as counseling specific to substance abuse and dependence.
Why "Balance"?
Balance Counseling, LLC was named for a common challenge I have observed so many individuals and couples struggling with: Balance. Merriam-Webster dictionary offers the following definitions for the word 'balance': "mental and emotional steadiness," "an aesthetically pleasing integration of elements," and "stability produced by even distribution of weight on each side." Do you feel steady, pleased, stable, and as if each area of your life is balanced with the others? In your relationship, are your needs balanced with your partners? Do you know what these needs are? These are great questions to explore with me in counseling.

Education
I have a Masters of Arts from the University of Colorado Denver in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education with an emphasis of study in Couples and Family Counseling, as well as a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. In addition, I have over 200 hours of addiction specific education.
