Kristine Delgado, MA, CCC-SLP
Specializing in Adult/Geriatric Speech/Swallowing Disorders
I provide home care speech therapy and evaluation services to adults and geriatric patients in Staten Island New York. Many patients have difficulty attending outpatient therapy programs after they leave a rehabilitation program due to difficulty making travel arrangements. With the convenience of therapy services provided in the home, you can focus on what's most important- your recovery process.
I have 8 years of experience in diagnosis and treatment of adult speech, language, cognitive and swallowing disorders, and have worked with a variety of etiologies such as Parkinson Disease, Traumatic Brain Injury, brain tumor, stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, dementia, head and neck cancer, pseudobulbar palsy, and dysarthria, Upon initial evaluation, findings will be discussed with you and a treatment plan will be implemented. You will be actively involved in your treatment plan throughout the entirety of the therapy, as I will ask for frequent feedback on how you feel you are progressing towards your goals. You will be urged to participate in goal setting, and goals that are most important to you become our priority.
Bio
After attending St. John's University for both my Bachelors and Masters degrees, I began working at JFK Medical Center in the Brain Trauma Unit where I treated patients with brain injury as a result of motor vehicle accidents, falls, and strokes. I then rotated to the Acute Care position, where I evaluated and treated patients in ICU and CCU as well as all the medical floors of the hospital. I then went on to rotate to St. Peter's Hospital where I continued work in acute care, however, I also had the experience of participating in the head and neck cancer unit in addition to working with patients with voice disorders. From there I went on to provide home care services to geriatric patients through the Visiting Nurse Association and I currently am the Senior Speech Pathologist at Eger Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, a 378 bed facility housing both short term rehab and long tern care residents. My above-mentioned experiences have provided me with a strong knowledge base and the ability to diagnose and treat a variety of complex speech, language, cognitive and swallowing disorders.
