Practice Information |
I help people who are struggling with a wide variety of emotional and behavioral issues including, but not limited to, those related to abuse, addiction, career/academic problems, confidence/self-esteem, domestic violence, eating disorders, life transitions, loss or grief, mood disorders such as anxiety and depression, parenting, relationship issues, stress management, and trauma.
Underlying my work is the general premise that people are heavily influenced by early relationships ― especially family relationships ― and their life experiences. |

Bio: |
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas and a National Certified Counselor. I received my Master of Science in Counseling, with an emphasis on Biofeedback, from the University of North Texas (UNT).
I have been interested in mental health since I was in my teens; however, I took a roundabout way to get to where I am today. After I graduated from Colorado College with a bachelor of arts in history, I spent several years working in the not-for-profit world as a writer and webmaster. Then I moved to the high-tech industry, where I got the opportunity to use my communication skills working with a lot of entrepreneurial, energetic folks as a technical writer. After the “dot-com bubble” burst and I was subject to two layoffs, I decided it was time to go back to school to become a counselor. And it has been an interesting and fulfilling journey ever since.
As a counselor, I have been able to work with individuals, couples, and families from countries around the world. I have seen many times over the resiliency of the human spirit. That spirit is the foundation for optimism with every person with whom I work. I believe people can change ― and if they are motivated and encouraged they can achieve beyond their wildest dreams. |
