Practice Information
Many variables contribute to anxiety and depression, such as sleep deprivation, improper eating habits including not only what we eat but when we eat. Also, physical health issues may contribute to anxiety and depression along with effecting the quality of relationships. It's very difficult to feel happiness and accomplish goals when we feel anxious or depressed.

Therapy is able to help with many issues. I see people who are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, post concussion syndrome better know as traumatic brain injury and interracial issues. Sometimes they are attempting to move past their past in order to move forward. When people first come to me they usually feel hopeless or helpless to make changes. Having an experienced and skilled therapist to listen and guide them makes all the difference. People are able to tell their story and express thoughts and feelings in complete confidentiality, safety, warmth and compassion. This space allows them to see how their past is effecting them today. They learn to think about things differently, feel differently and behave differently.

Bio:
On some level, I have always know that psychotherapy would be my chosen career. Being married and divorced at a young age I experienced my share of adversities. Somehow, I learned to overcome life's hurdles and persevere at all costs. This is what I hoped to teach others to accomplish. Since then, I have gained invaluable career experiences as a counselor in a women's halfway house for ex-offenders, homeless shelter for pregnant women, drug and alcohol treatment centers, community counseling agencies, hospices and several other places of employment. I have been enjoying assisting others in feeling better and accomplishing their desired goals in my private practice since 2008.

My formal education consists of a BA in Psychology and a Master of Social Work (MSW). I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a National Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist (NBCCH). I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). Somewhere along the way I decided to specialize in women's and teenage girls issues. I cannot imagine myself doing anything else.
This is who I am as an individual and as a therapist.
