I have been practicing psychotherapy for over 30 years and have experience working with a wide variety of issues including the following: relationship and family problems; symptoms of anxiety and depression; problems with academic and occupational performance, work-related stress, and career advancement;gay and lesbian issues; helping individuals establish and maintain their recovery from substance abuse; attention deficit disorder; anger management; and adjustment difficulties of childhood and adolescence.

Bio
Over the course of my career I have worked in a wide variety of settings including psychiatric inpatient and day treatment programs, alcoholism rehabilitation and spinal cord injury units, a child development center, and various outpatient mental health clinics as well as in private practice. This experience has involved providing evaluation and treatment as well as supervising the clinical work of graduate students and staff. It has also familiarized me with the range of problems people confront throughout their lives as well as the diverse cultural backgrounds of various ethnic groups and nationalities.

I have a particular interest in working with couples and have pursued training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy--a therapy designed to help couples move out of repetitive, negative patterns of interaction and develop stronger, more intimate bonds. In addition to providing psychotherapy, I serve as a divorce coach for couples undergoing collaborative divorce and supervise psychoanalysts-in-training at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center, and the Postgraduate Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis at Adelphi University. I also supervise clinical psychology graduate students at the City University of New York.
