Carrie’s philosophy is grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy, meaning that therapy is utilized to understand not only the symptoms presented, but also the roots of the symptoms, leading to longer-term change. Carrie’s has had over ten years of clinical experience in a variety of areas. She has worked in both the public and private sectors as a therapist, clinical supervisor, and program administrator. Because of her extensive experience and expertise, she is often asked to present educational lectures to various groups, including to other professional colleagues and organizations.

Education:
Carrie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida in 1996 and earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from New York University in 1999. She has completed a two year post graduate training program in psychodynamic psychotherapy. Carrie also has advanced training in play therapy and is certified as both a Registered Play Therapist and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor by the International Association for Play Therapy. This qualifies Carrie to both conduct play therapy and to supervise candidates for certification through the International Association for Play Therapy. Carrie is also trained and certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a therapeutic tool utilized with children, adolescents, and adults to process traumatic or anxiety provoking experiences.
