Practice Information |
We are a counseling practice in Arlington Texas. We work with children, adolescents, families, individuals, & couples. We also have pre-marital counseling available.We offer a free 15-minute phone consultation. It is a no pressure phone call. We will assess your current needs and concerns and decide if we can work together to address them. Our counselors believe in the counseling process and want you to have the best counseling experience possible. We offer emergency sessions, intensive counseling, assessments, animal assisted therapy, play therapy, pre-marital, couples, adolescent counseling, bilingual counseling, and group counseling.
Our counseling experience includes all of the following and many more areas as well: abuse, ADHD, adoption, anger, anxiety, blended family, conflict resolution, depression, divorce, faith crisis, grief, parenting,relationship issues, self-esteem, stress management, sex therapy.

Our goal is to help you find the right counselor. Counseling doesn't work if you're not comfortable with your counselor. If it's not us, we'll do our best to help you find someone else. We believe in the counseling process and want you to have a good experience.
Meredith Akin is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supevisor as well as a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor and has been counseling in Arlington for 7 years now. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a Master’s of Education in Counseling and has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Dallas Baptist University. Meredith loves working with couples through whatever they may be facing. She enjoys working on communication and helping marriages thrive. Meredith is certified in the PREPARE/ENRICH counseling program. She specialized in Play Therapy during graduate school and enjoys working with children, adolescents, individuals, and families. In the past Meredith was a school teacher and school counselor and loves being able to continue serving clients in a private practice setting.
Julie Weaver is bilingual (English/ Spanish) LPC. She has been married to the love of her life for 20 years and has three children. Her passion is working with couples to help their relationship reach its full potential. She has worked with couples 18+ years. Julie is certified in the PREPARE/ENRICH counseling program. Through her career, she also enjoyed working with adults and adolescents, helping them walk successfully through life’s difficulties. She has also worked with issues such as loss, anxiety, depression, victims of abuse and violence as well as adoption related issues. |

Madelyn Gillaspy is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern under direct supervision from Meredith Akin LPC-S. Madelyn received her Masters in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Dallas Christian College. Throughout her professional career, Madelyn has worked with families that are serving children through foster care and adoption. She has received training developing healthy family relationships through building trust based relationships. Madelyn has experience in counseling anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, family conflict, parenting issues, grief, children dealing with divorce, as well as many other issues.
Courtney Johnson is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern under direct supervision from Meredith Akin LPC-S. Courtney received her Masters in Counseling from Southern Methodist University and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University. During her time at SMU she specialized in treating children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups. She has received training in play therapy, activity therapy, filial therapy, sand tray, and trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy. Courtney has experience in counseling anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, children who have been abused, family conflict, parenting issues, grief, anger management, as well as many other issues. Courtney has been counseling children and adolescents in an agency setting and is excited to continue her work in a private practice setting.
Rebeca Meyer began a career in academic counseling after graduating from Wellesley College with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Through this experience, she was compelled to pursue a Master’s in counseling and completed her degree in Biblical Counseling at Dallas Theological seminary. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern who is working under the supervision of Beth Ann Contreras, MMFT, LMFT-S, LPC-S. Her experience in counseling those who have experienced severe trauma and a range of issues associated with anxiety and depression has been enhanced through the use of a variety of counseling approaches, including cognitive behavioral, gestalt, and a person-centered approach. She specializes in trauma associated with Child Sexual Abuse and domestic violence. |
