Practice Information |
Every day I work with people who are overcoming trauma, anxiety, depression and relationship conflicts to find increased happiness, hopefulness and meaning in their lives.
What is it costing you to be depressed, worried, avoidant, stuck, in conflict with your partner or co-workers, or disconnected? A large body of research shows that 9 out of 10 people are helped by therapy. What's stopping you from moving forward and getting the help you need?
My specialties include relationship skills, assertiveness, conflict, anger management, anxiety, depression, trauma (PTSD), career counseling, couples therapy, couples counseling, autism spectrum, and adult ADHD (ADD). I primarily use a combination of CBT, EMDR, depth and psychodynamic techniques. My office is in Berkeley, but I provide therapy services throughout the state using telephone or Skype.
I am happy to offer a free 15-minute phone consultation. You don't have to fix this by yourself. |

Bio: |
I trained at the C.G. Jung Institute and received my doctorate from The Wright Institute, where I now teach group and organizational interventions, and supervise the work of doctoral students in training. In addition to my private practice I’ve worked in a number of settings over the years. The psychological breakthroughs of the 60s and 70s were formative for me, when a myriad of approaches to personal growth were explored. My work has been deeply informed by the men’s movement of the 80s and 90s, and I have a special interest in helping men develop self-awareness and communication skills. I’ve provided therapy in outpatient clinics, a drug treatment program, a university counseling center and an inner city school. I now very happily devote my time to my private therapy practice, corporate consulting in the areas of leadership development and teambuilding, and my highly satisfying work with my students. I am also interested in research: our team is currently investigating factors which make couples therapy more accessible for men. Earlier research was devoted to an interview study of beneficial therapist spontaneity; I consider spontaneous, authentic relationships to be the heart of the psychotherapy and coaching process. Before becoming a psychologist and Certified Positive Psychology Coach, I worked for twenty years in the corporate arena: I was the CEO of a technology consulting firm, consulting to leaders in a number of different business environments, including healthcare, manufacturing, software development and telecommunications. |
