I am writing in recommendation of Daniel Spinello as a personal trainer. Daniel has trained me 3 – 4 times a week for the past 2 years.
When we first met, Daniel and I discussed my training goals, and he assessed my fitness level and monitored my diet for a week in order to properly evaluate my physical condition. With this information, he developed a personalized routine that was very challenging, but not overwhelming to begin with. As I progressed and got more comfortable with the workout, he has added variation and additional areas of focus to keep me both challenged and interested. This method is very motivating and goal-oriented.
Daniel’s 4-session routine emphasizes a full-body workout balanced with stretching, warm-up cardio and core-strengthening. In addition to his knowledge of strength-training, Daniel brings the expertise and experience of his Physical Therapy background to his personal training. This is manifest in his detailed attention proper form and a carefully balanced workout. This has certainly given me the confidence to stick to a very rigorous work out, but most importantly, it has shown results.

Over the course of my fitness life I’ve hired three personal trainers. Neither of the first two belong in the same category as Dan. He just knows more. When I’ve asked why we’re not using a full range of motion or why this exercise hurts more than that one, he has the answers. The same ones my doctor’s physiology professor would give me.
He’s a die-hard fitness nut himself, and his soft-spoken encouragement strikes just the right temperament. But this isn’t to say he’s easy. I’ve seldom gone through a workout of his without breaking a sweat. He has a knack for saying, “Yeah that’s great, now put your feet here, your hands here, pull your shoulders back and do it again.”And suddenly the same exercise with the same weight is next to impossible. “Yeah it’s harder when you do it the right way,” he says as he corrects me with a wry smile.
As a result of our workouts, my muscles have grown more in the last six months with Dan than in the previous six years without him. As further testament to how highly I regard him as a trainer, I joined a second gym, and weekly travel 20 miles out of my way, just to workout with him. I recommend him highly and without reservation.

I have worked with Dan in 2007 and since 2010, and I can attest to his excellence and effectiveness as both physical therapist and trainer. Dan has a vast repertoire of therapeutic and strengthening exercises from which he can cull an efficacious, tailor-made office and home program. He also knows which exercises – however common they may be – don’t work, so that time spent during a session is very well used. Working with Dan is, above all, enjoyable.
Dan is affable, easy to work with, and has a wry sense of humor. I look forward to our sessions with a keen sense of anticipation.
