Education
He has been licensed in Montana as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since March 8, 2010, as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor since 1986 and credentialed as a National Certified Counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc (NBCC) since 1984. In 2008, he was awarded the Diplomate (DAPA) status in the American Psychotherapy Association (APA). The Diplomate designation is limited to a select group of professionals who, by virtue of their extensive training and expertise, have demonstrated their outstanding abilities in regard to their specialty. He was awarded Fellow status with the American Psychotherapy Association (APA), in December 2010. The Fellow designation (FAPA) is reserved for those individuals who are able to meet the stringent requirements of the APA in the areas of knowledge, skill, education, training, and experience in the therapeutic process. He has been a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) since 1986 and is a founding member of the Montana Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. He received his Master of Education degree in Counselor Education, with a minor in Individual and Family Studies from Pennsylvania State University in 1982.

Jeffrey A. Watson, LCPC, LMFT, NCC, FAPA is the clinical director and clinical supervisor of services provided by Compass Professional Services LLC. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Jeffrey works with children, adolescents, and adults providing individual, family, couples, and group therapy. He specializes in the areas of attachment, trauma/abuse, family-of-origin issues, childhood disorders, adoption issues, parenting, depression/mood disorders, couples, relationships, divorce, and sexual intimacy. He is a founding member and owner of Compass, formerly the Child & Family Counseling Center of Butte. The mission of Compass is to be the leader in providing the most comprehensive and the highest quality healthcare services to the members of all the communities we serve. We provide multidisciplinary, professional mental health and substance abuse services through progressive, integrated care within a private practice group setting. With compassion and excellence, Compass strives to promote wellness, relieve suffering, and restore health. He has practiced counseling for over 30 years and has been practicing in the private practice setting for over 25 years. In addition to the annual continuing education requirement for the Montana Board of Social Work Examiners and Professional Counselors, as well as the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), He has also been trained by Daniel A. Hughes, in Dyadic Development Psychotherapy, specialized training to treat attachment and trauma.
