Practice Information
I primarily provide for the counseling needs of professionals at all levels, and offer intelligent, insightful, creative, outside-the-box, solution-focused and long-term therapy with complete discretion and confidentiality.

My work focuses on helping clients enjoy more satisfying and meaningful lives.

Issues I commonly help people resolve include life and career transitions, anxiety and depression, feelings of emptiness, stress management, as well as many others.

Former and current clients have described me as "easy to talk to," "a wonderful listener," "someone who it feels safe to talk with," "easy to be open with, and nonjudgmental," "empathic and understanding," and most commonly of all "someone who thinks outside the box."

Most of my career counseling relationships last at least a few months, but it is usually helpful to stay in regular contact with your career counselor or coach even after your objectives are determined and any mental obstacles preventing the achievement of your goals are removed.

As we move along our paths in life, we often have to deal with unanticipated challenges, and correct our courses accordingly. Having someone around to keep us on track as we face those challenges is an immense asset.

My clients determine where they would like to be more aligned with their life purpose, and ultimately learn to craft the solutions to any problems facing them.

But several decades of experience have led me to understand that helping clients with "career issues" requires me to address and manage a wide variety of career-related issues. Because of this, I have also helped numerous clients:

Create a satisfying balance between work and the rest of life;
Stay focused on work while dealing with emotional issues (such as grief, divorce, or difficulties with children);
Find time and outlets for other needs (such as community involvement, creativity, spirituality);
Resolve conflicts and issues in the workplace;
Learn the communication and conflict management skills necessary for employees and supervisors;
Relieve work-induced tension and stress;
Manage job changes and changing work environments;
Decide whether to stay in a job or find a new one;
Deal with workplace disabilities;
Make decisions regarding self-employment and entrepreneurship; and
Address the numerous financial issues and concerns that arise around these topics.

If you feel you could use a professional partner to address any of the aforementioned issues... If you have questions about the nature of the work you do, how it impacts your life, and how you can successfully transition your career so it becomes an expression of your life purpose contact me.

As Robert Frost said, "(for only when) work is play for mortal stakes is the deed ever really done for heaven and the future's sakes."

Bio:
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) in the state of California, and provide counseling and psychotherapy services to individual adults in the San Francisco Bay Area via my offices located in both San Francisco and Berkeley.

I became licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in January 1984 and have run a successful private practice since that time.

I realized early on that the world isn't "made" for any one of us. We each have to create our own way of thinking and getting things done. And it is with pride and joy that I have helped countless clients do just that for well over two decades.

As well as being a therapist, I have been in therapy for the past thirty years. I personally believe we're never done exploring who we are, and I continue to discover new ways to bring meaning and joy to the world through my work and the way I live my life.

I have also been a supervisor at John F. Kennedy University's Career Center, where I provided training for career counseling graduate students, a clinical supervisor at John F. Kennedy University's Transpersonal Counseling Center, where I provided clinical supervision to MFT graduate students, and served on the faculty of San Francisco State University's Counseling and Psychological Services Center for 13 years, where I provided individual and couples therapy for undergraduate and graduate students.

As to some of my non-professional pursuits, I have a great love for dogs, cats, and animals of all stripes and do animal rescue in my free time. I am also very interested in the arts and create custom jewelry pieces.
