Unlock a Better You with Therapy
Therapy isn't just about addressing challenges—it's about enhancing every aspect of your life. Imagine having more confidence, managing depression effectively, and maintaining your true self in both personal and professional relationships. I can guide you in understanding the importance of boundaries and how to set them, helping you distinguish your needs from those of others. I've supported many men in overcoming performance anxiety and have worked with couples to cultivate open, intimate communication—whether it’s navigating big-picture issues like sex, marriage, children, finances, or tackling immediate crises like infidelity, separation, or divorce. I also assist co-parents in developing strong, cooperative relationships for the well-being of their children.
As a therapist, I don’t view your challenges as inherently negative. Instead, I see them as opportunities to uncover your strengths and develop the skills to resolve current issues and future ones.
My approach is real, informal, active, and collaborative. I aim to truly understand you by listening, asking questions, and ensuring I grasp your perspective. In our sessions, you’ll find focused attention, professional insights, and a healthy dose of enthusiasm and encouragement. And when appropriate, I bring real-life examples and a sense of humor to our work together. |

A Rich Background in Both Therapy and the Arts
I hold graduate degrees in English/Creative Writing and Counseling, with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy, from San Francisco State University. Before transitioning into psychotherapy, I spent years teaching English Composition, Creative Writing, and Fiction at the University, College, and Adult Education levels. This blend of creative and therapeutic training informs my approach, bringing depth and versatility to my work with clients. |

A Wealth of Experience, Tailored to You
Since 1998, I've been working as a counselor in a wide range of settings, from elementary and middle schools to residential treatment centers for adults and children with severe emotional and psychological challenges. My journey also includes post-graduate psychotherapy internships that laid the foundation for my private practice. In 2001, I began working in supervised private practice, and by 2006, I transitioned into sole private practice after earning my licensure.
I view psychotherapy as a diverse and flexible field, much like the saying, "All roads lead to Rome." This perspective allows me to draw from a variety of theories and approaches, without being confined to just one. Rather than fitting individuals or couples into a predetermined template, I collaborate with them in ways that uniquely suit their needs. |
