No one ever said life is easy! Through my own life experience, personal crisis, loss, challenges and painful relationships I have learned that inner strength and resiliency is the key to survival. A quote by Winston Churchill is my motto, no matter how difficult life may seem, “Never Never Never Give Up.”
Engaged or considering marriage? Pre marital counseling offers couples a structured sounding board to address important issues.. At MDC Serenity Counseling I offer a non-religious based program. If spirituality is important to you we can bring that topic into the conversation. Discuss important issues in a healthy productive way prior to tying the knot!
Is divorce or separation a possible scenario for your current relationship? Are you finding yourself grieving a major loss right now? Anxiety and Depression often occur while coping with loss. We all grieve in our own way. In my experience it is not a matter of "getting over it" when we lose a relationship or a loved one. We need to give ourselves permission to be sad and grieve. It is important to realize that we can get through the pain of loss and go on with our lives and find happiness again.
Life can be overwhelming at times. Current life situations can leave one feeling confused, anxious or depressed. There are times in life when we need help from a professional. Although it may seem scary, it is okay to ask for help. I will work with you to bring positive change to your life.
The relationship between psychotherapist and client is one of the most important parts of therapy. I believe that creating a safe place to work through your difficulties is essential. I bring compassion, honesty and humor to my counseling. My training as a social worker and mental health therapist as well as my personal life experiences can help you find tools to cope with life’s difficulties.
To achieve your goals I utilize an individual approach that builds on, and recognizes, the strengths you already have and assists you to learn new ones.

| Marty Devins-Horvath is a LMSW, a Licensed Master of Social Work in the state of Kansas. Marty sees clients in the greater Kansas City area with a variety of mental health issues and life problems. In her private practice Marty offers individual psychotherapy sessions for women, men and adolescents. Marty specializes in counseling the family members of those struggling with addiction. Marty also offers pre-marital counseling, marriage and couple counseling as well as group therapy for those recently divorced, survivors of sexual abuse, anxiety, depression and more. Marty has a convenient office location in Overland Park, Kansas serving Leawood, Ks, Prairie Village, Ks and the surrounding greater KC area. |
