Practice Information
I am a licensed psychotherapist and psychoanalyst in private practice offering treatment for adults of all ages and from diverse backgrounds. I work in-person and with tele-health.

Maybe you’ve had a hard time trusting your feelings or judgement. You may be losing sleep, dissatisfied with your career path, your love life or search for a partner.

I work with individuals struggling with anxiety, grief, grievance, depression, trauma, life transitions and creative blocks. Such experiences are hard to figure out on your own. As a trained and empathic listener I can help you move beyond destructive patterns of behavior. Over time I can help you reach your personal and professional goals.

My style is warm, direct, creative. My main modality: psychodynamic, relationship based, and insight oriented. Yet I draw on a variety of therapeutic techniques and realize that every individual’s journey is unique. We work together to understand the obstacles you face, mourn the losses endured, and help you experience more joy with awareness of life's transience.

Education
I graduated from Duke University, earned my Ph.D. at New York University in Psychology and Theater, and conducted clinical training at the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis in New York City.

I had additional training at the Institute for Expressive Analysis and the William Alanson White Institute.
Bio:
I come to clinical practice from a career as an academic, teaching in the Humanities at various colleges, including New York University and Connecticut University. I maintain an active scholarly life.

My work as a filmmaker includes the documentary, "Blind Trust," about the extraordinary life of psychoanalyst Vamik Volkan and his fieldwork in communities of crisis. The film garnered the "Gradiva Award," given for artistic achievements that further psychoanalysis and psychotherapy.

I publish articles on psychoanalysis and write a blog for psychologytoday.com.
