Practice Information |
Anyone can benefit from Art Therapy regardless of skill or age.
Art Therapy is about the therapeutic process of artistic creation, not the product.
Art Therapy may be considered a specialty in the world of mental health, recovery, and rehabilitation.
Art Therapists are specifically trained through Master's-level Art Therapy degree programs approved by the American Art Therapy Association (AATA) and Art Therapy Credentialing Board (ATCB) standards. Please use caution when choosing a therapist. There are counseling therapists who claim they do "art therapy" or "expressive arts therapy" with their clients; however, unless they have a specific degree or post-Graduate certification and required-documented supervision under an ATR (Registered Art Therapist), they cannot ethically advertise nor practice "art therapy" or "expressive arts therapy." Receiving "art therapy" or "expressive arts therapy" from a non-specialized practitioner may do more harm than good. If you have any questions, please contact Noetic Art Therapy, LLC. or the Missouri Art Therapy Association.
About Noetic Art Therapy:
The creation of art can be a transformational experience. We are open to and interested in working with individuals who believe there is something more to life than only what is at the surface. We look beyond the status quo. We work clinically with archetypes, dreams, beliefs, visioning, mindfulness methods, and our higher intuitive consciousness to transcend and transform outdated and limiting scripts, beliefs, and judgments—with the intention of living a life that is more fully aligned at all levels. Greater experiences of joy, abundance, grace, and loving for the highest good of all concerned shall emerge. This approach can be considered transpersonal and/or psycho-spiritual in nature. This corresponds to the meaning of the word, "noetic."
From this unique approach to art therapy we intend to understand our own personal experience from new reference points of awareness and clarity. We acknowledge the unique paths we have walked, roads we have driven, people who we have affected, and those who have affected us. We become clear through the process of Noetic Art Therapy of the essence of who and what we are, what our and others' beliefs, judgments, behaviors and actions have meant in our lives. From here we may decide to clear and resolve those outdated, no longer useful, blockages that we have been carrying, which have been keeping us from our bliss. It is through this lens of viewing oneself and the world that new understandings occur. We realize we are the conscious creators and facilitators of our own realities. Thoughts, feelings, behavior, self expression, and ultimately our experience of ourselves, others, and the world shifts toward equanimity. |
