Practice Information
I provide a safe healing environment for freeing you to be the person you want to be. You will have a partner and advocate on your side.

I have over 30 years' experience in working with individuals, couples and families. Whether you are depressed, anxious, unhappy in a relationship or lonely without one, change is possible. I value the uniqueness of each person. We will work together to find the approach that is right for you.

I specialize in helping people move out of stuck places, heal past trauma, and change destructive behavior patterns. As well as being trained in Gestalt therapy and family systems therapy, I am an experienced hypnotherapist and a certified EMDR therapist.

I work with the unconscious mind to bring about deep lasting change using one of the fastest processing methods available today. We will work on the level of both the conscious AND the unconscious mind so that the changes you make will be solid and long-lasting. Together we can make your life what you want it to be.

Let experience and training work for you.

Bio:
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been working with individuals, couples and families for over 30 years.

Originally trained as a Philosopher, I graduated with a Doctorate degree from the University of Michigan in 1971 and taught as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of Toronto from 1968 until 1973. I then went back to school and received a Master's of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto. At the same time, Icompleted a 3 year training program for Gestalt therapists at the Gestalt Institute of Toronto. I began my private practice in Toronto in 1976 specializing in Gestalt therapy. I was also trained by Virginia Satir as a family therapist and was a staff therapist at Durham Regional Counseling Services until moving to Vancouver, B.C. in 1978.

In Vancouver, I founded and coordinated a women's resource center and served as a career counselor for Capilano University until I resumed my private practice in Counseling and Hypnotherapy in 1984. During this time, I became a faculty member of the Northwest Satir Institute and a student of Diamond Heart spiritual training.

In 1996, I moved to Santa Barbara with my 2 sons and became licensed as a Clinical Social Worker for the State of California in 1997. I taught at Antioch University from 1996 to 1999 and was a Board Member of the National Association of Social Workers, Santa Barbara Chapter from 1997 to 1999. I was trained in EMDR in 1998 and became a Certified EMDR therapist in 2004. I maintained my therapy practice under the auspice of the Family Therapy Institute of Santa Barbara for 10 years and then in my own private practice where I continue to work today.

My book on therapy entitled "Journey to Home: Quintessential Therapy and Beyond" was published in 2009.
