Interpersonal Marriage & Family Therapy, P.C. was founded by Shari D. Siegel, MA, CFT, LMFT. Shari has earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the State University College at Oneonta, New York. She has earned her Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hofstra University, New York (Magna Cum Laude). |
Shari has been working in the field for 12 years. She has experience working with individuals, couples, and families who have presented with difficulties in: setting or reaching goals, getting into a routine, time management, becoming clutter-free, feelings of stress, self-esteem issues, communication difficulties (in any of their relationships), identifying triggers or repetitive patterns as to heal old hurts and get their needs met, roles, rules, and expectations of self and partner, division of tasks, dual-career management, relationship enhancement, positive discipline/parenting issues, sibling rivalries, lack of structure within the family, parents of children of divorce (effects on children, telling your children, parenting roles) and many more. By working through client stresses, concerns, feelings and negative thought patterns (whether it be with themselves or with their relationships) they begin to clear their life of unwanted behavior, i.e., negative communication or repetitive patterns and gain control. The therapy I use is Solution-Focused, not problem-focused. Together, we explore and find solutions (that the client feels comfortable with) to various concerns. I also use Imago Therapy to address emotional and relational concerns. This is where we look at the client’s past to understand current feelings and behavior as to move into changing negative feelings/unwanted behavior by identifying/getting their needs met. |
