Heather received a master’s degree in Art Therapy from the Adler School of Professional Psychology. She has extensive experience in inpatient, outpatient, and community based settings. Heather has over twelve years of experience working with children, and spent the last several years working with individuals affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia, providing individualized cognitive rehabilitation, therapeutic support, and psycho-educational support to individuals experiencing cognitive impairment along with their family members. She also has experience providing individual, family, and group art therapy services aimed at demystifying the grief process and promoting healing. Heather also has experience working with children and adults with disabilities in both a group and on an individual basis identifying and setting goals, implementing interventions, and facilitating recreational and educational activities appropriate to each individual’s developmental level.
As an art therapist and counselor, Heather believes that art and the counseling relationship provides people with the space for self-exploration and understanding, while improving interpersonal communication and cultivating problem solving skills, enhancing people’s quality of life.
