I earned my Master’s Degree (MA) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lewis University and my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from North Central College. In addition to the required coursework, I completed an in-depth seminar in Obesity and Eating Disorders as well as workshops in Play Therapy and Treating Child Trauma.
I work with children, teens, and adults to reach their treatment goals as well as cope with any issues they may face within a safe and accepting therapeutic environment. I have experience working with children, teens, and young adults with severe co-occurring disorders in a psychiatric residential treatment facility.
I use a combination of theories, including but not limited to; CBT, DBT, Behavior Therapy, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Trauma Focused, Person-Centered Psychotherapy, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I base my treatment approach on what works best for each individual client as well as what the current research shows is the best evidenced-based treatment for the presenting issue. I use a collaborative approach; we will work together to utilize your strengths to develop a treatment plan and goals that best fit your needs.
In addition to counseling, I enjoy spending time with my husband and son, playing with my dog, cuddling my cat on the couch, listening to a variety of music, camping, fishing, and painting. |
