I help people understand there are many choices in the world and that they have a choice as to what path to follow, which includes their values and beliefs. My role as a counselor is to help individuals adjust to the adversity of life. I believe each person desires the respect of who they are no matter the background and religious beliefs. My approach is to be flexible and to tailor therapy to the needs of my clients. Therapeutic Approach: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which includes Art therapy, Client Centered Therapy, Integrative therapy and Choice therapy, Motivational interviewing, Dialectic Behavior therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, and Narrative therapy.
Education and Experience: I earned my Master’s degree in Professional Mental Health counseling from Roosevelt University and also earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with University of Phoenix. In addition to my education and during my internship, I worked with teenage adolescents suffering from depression and social anxieties using Art therapy. From this experience, I learned many individuals suffer from low self-esteem which will make a person feel sad and look at life from a negative perspective. In addition to my experience, individuals need to talk about the past in order to move forward to their future. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, playing with my dog, and spending time with my family. One of my hobbies is walking, which includes doing fund raising for the Heart Association and Alzheimer’s. |
