My approach as a therapist is person-centered. I believe it is important to listen and understand each client’s story from their unique perspective. A good relationship between therapist and client is essential to good therapy outcomes. I endeavor to create a connection with clients that is based on respect and trust. I value clients’ autonomy and their right to determine the best choices for their lives. I enjoy developing a course of therapy with clients which allows them greater empowerment and contentment.
I include a variety of therapeutic methods when working with clients. I tailor my methods to the client’s preference and ability since each client is unique and one method does not work for everyone. I typically use techniques from Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, Emotionally Focused, Systemic, Narrative, and Play therapies. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychobiology from UCLA and my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant University. I have over 30 years experience as a therapist in private practice and outpatient facility settings. I have nearly 10 years combined experience as a counselor educator and clinical supervisor. I am a lifelong learner and thrive on the exchange of ideas with students and colleagues. I am a California native and recently moved to Idaho seeking a higher quality of life. I appreciate the beautiful country out here and the slower pace. I enjoy walking, gardening, reading, and hanging out with family which includes a few pets! |
