Starlight Speech & Language is a pediatric speech therapy and enrichment practice. I provide in-home or in-school speech therapy and enrichment services to help meet the needs of busy families. I use the latest scientific evidence to provide the most effective therapy services. Every child deserves the ability to communicate with his family, friends and community. I'm here to help children reach for the stars!

Education

Rachel earned a Master’s of Science in Bio-Behavioral Sciences from Teachers College at Columbia University in New York, NY.

During graduate school, her training included working at a preschool for children with Autism, a school for the blind, a private practice working with adults with neurogenic disorders and participating in rounds with an inter-disciplinary craniofacial team at Columbia University Medical Center. Rachel traveled to Ghana, West Africa to assess, evaluate and treat underserved populations. These clients included children and adults with communication disorders due to cleft lip and palate, Downs Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy.

Rachel is PROMPT trained (PROMPTS for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) aimed at remediation for individuals with apraxia and speech production disorders. She is also trained by the SoCal BRIDGE Collaborative's early intervention program for children at risk for social communication and related disorders called Project ImPACT.

Rachel has received continuing education training in the following areas: motor speech disorders, speech sound disorders, early language learning, Autism Spectrum Disorders, fluency disorders, narrative writing difficulties, reading difficulties, social skills, use of Alternative Augmentative Communication (AAC) and teletherapy.

Bio:

Rachel Albert, MS CCC-SLP, established Starlight Speech and Language because she believes so deeply in providing high quality speech and language therapy in the most natural environment for the best results. After many years in New York City, she moved with her husband, two children and small, fluffy dog "Rocky" to sunny San Diego, CA in 2013.
