I see therapy as a collaborative process that is founded on the individual’s strengths and goals. I bring my knowledge and training into the room, just as the clients brings their life experiences with them. As I often say – you are the expert on your own life. I strive to assist clients with recognizing maladaptive patterns, developing healthy coping skills, and living fulfilling and balanced lives. As a counselor, I utilize an integrative and client-centered approach and incorporate Cognitive-Behavioral skills and exercises into sessions. I admire the courage it takes for someone to ask for help, and I maintain a nonjudgmental outlook on each person I speak with. Therapy can be a highly rewarding journey, and I enjoy bearing witness to and being a part of each person’s growth. I earned a Bachelors Degree in Psychology at Santa Clara University in California, and then proceeded to earn my Masters in Counseling at Adler University in Chicago. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings with diverse populations of people. I have been a counselor at the Cook County Jail, inpatient facilities, and nonprofit mental health organizations. I have worked with teens and adults from various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. I now look forward to working alongside those who seek counseling through Portrait Health Centers. Outside of the office, I love to explore restaurants around the city and try different types of food. When the weather permits, I try to make my way to the lakefront or walk along the river. Having my family live so close to me makes Chicago even better, and I’m lucky to be able to see them on a regular basis. Family, friends, fresh air, and food are absolutely what I enjoy the most. |
