Psychotherapy - a Growth Process
Improve Your Life with Focus on Mind/Body/Spirit
I have been a psychologist since 1982 and still love what I do. I believe that therapy is an ongoing growth process and that it is important that all facets of our life be attended to (mind/body/spirit). Whether you are experiencing a short term problem, a reaction to a specific situation, relationship problems, a truama, depression, anxiety or a medical problem therapy acn help. I have worked extensively with people that have both chronic and acute medical problems. There is a wealth of scientific studies that have repeatedly shown the value of the relaxation response, breathing, relationships and being in therapy to help in dealing with medical problems. Trauma suffered as a child, of result of being physically or sexually assaulted, witnessing a truamatic event or war is treatable. At any given point 25-50% of my practice is helping people recover from trauma. Depression and anxiety can be treated effectively often without meds. If medications are needed, I am comfortable working with your family doctor. My treatment approach is based on interpersonal, Gestalt and psychodynamic theories. I do incorporate some CBT into treatment but that is not my primary focus. I also teach clients the relaxation response when approapriate and they so desire. I am very comfortable incorporating YOUR spirituality into treatment. At times, I have worked with local clergy to help people overcome a particular problem. Please call so we can discuss whether I would be a good match for you.

Professional, Confidential, Caring Treatment
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Individual, Couples and Family Counseling, sub specialty working with Emergency Services Personnel and their families including: Law Enforcement, Corrections, Firefighters, Emergency Room staff, Ambulance Attendants. Problems such as Depression, Trauma, Anxiety, Stress, Relationship Difficulties, Self Esteem Issues addressed in a safe atmosphere of confidentiality and professionalism. Many times a client is interested in how the Treatment Process works. Just how does Counseling work? In my view, the most important ingredient affecting a positive outcome is the motivation of the client to feel better and/or do better. The role of the provider is to assist the client in accessing inner strengths and solutions they might not be aware of. This involves some problem solving discussions to first identify the source of the difficulty. Also important is the developing of understanding as to what may contribute to or reduce the negative impact of the problem or problems troubling the individual, couple or family. Coming from a Humanistic background I believe most people possess the real solutions to their problems although sometimes they are unable to access those solutions without assistance. Many times my role is that of a consultant to the client or clients in discovering those solutions and finding ways to reduce the trouble they are experiencing.
