Experienced Psychotherapist
Hello! I guess if you are reading this, you are looking for someone to work with and considering whether psychotherapy or counselling might be something for you...

Psychotherapy can help you to understand some of the patterns, dynamics and relationships during your life that may be affecting the way you feel and live your life now. It provides a safe, confidential place in which to explore the things that matter to you and what helps to give you a sense of meaning, hope and purpose - and the things that get in the way of this when things are difficult.

It usually involves once-weekly face-to-face meetings, although sometimes more often, depending on what is needed. I have experience of working with a wide range of issues and disciplines in different settings and am open to finding a language and way of working with each person I meet which is fitting for them.

If you would like to arrange a time to have a chat on the phone or to arrange a free one-off meeting to see how we get on, do please be in touch. I would be delighted to meet you.

Bio
Debbie has many years of experience working in a range of sectors and settings (Social Work; Child Psychological Advisory Service; Magistrate Conciliation Courts (Birmingham); Acute and Forensic Psychiatry (Cambridge); Hospital; Young People's Psychiatric Service (Cambridge); etc).

She has studied a range of different subjects and disciplines (English; Social Sciences; Counselling and Psychotherapy & Theology) at different levels and enjoys thinking about interpersonal and systemic/organisational dynamics as well as individual ones.

She originally trained as a counsellor and then psychotherapist through feeling and witnessing the limitations of behaviourist approaches to psychological problems. She then trained as an Anglican (C of E) priest and currently also works as a hospital chaplain- where the model of chaplaincy is generic and seeks to offer spiritual support for people however their spirituality is expressed (whether 'religious' or not).

In recent years, she has developed an interest and expertise in working with those suffering from trauma - particularly Dissociative Identity Disorder.

She is also the co-founder of a L'Arche- inspired initiative for those with Learning Disabilities.
