Have Big Emotions Become the Boss of You?
Helping Women/Girls Overcome Anxiety and Bad Experiences
Are you struggling with worry, shame or anger that control and limit your life, whether due to a bad experience, biology or life stress? I can help you develop practical skills to manage these types of overwhelming emotions along with a new understanding of where they came from and how they work. Using EMDR, mindfulness and other established approaches, I help women and girls (preteen+) move from feeling "broken" to feeling safe, in control, and ready to take on life in a new way.

Education/Training
For a many years, before I was a therapist, I was a paraprofessional victim advocate and hotline counselor. So, I have a lot of experience helping people navigate the confusing aftermath of various bad experiences. My formal training includes an M.A. degree in Counseling from Regis University. I've also received training in several speciality areas:
- Trauma therapy training from Moving to End Sexual Assault and Mental Health Partners
- Grief counselor training from HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties (now TRU Community Care).
EMDR training from Awake Mind (EMDR is a proven approach to help resolve trauma), and the Maiberger Institute.
- Training on anxiety and the brain by Margaret Wehrenberger.
- Animal Assisted Therapy training by Professional Therapy Dogs of Colorado.
Bio
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Boulder, Colorado. I have specific skills and tools to share with you, that will help you start taming your worries, fears, strong reactions, and triggers today. I can help you quickly get to the heart of the problem and immediately begin to feel in more control of your life.
My office is centrally located in Boulder, CO and easy to get to from neighboring communities.
How I Work
I commit considerable energy and resources toward helping you on your journey. My focus will be on understanding your unique experiences, feelings and thoughts. From there we can choose from a variety of approaches, to find the one best suited to your concerns and your style. I frequently employ EMDR, Internal Family Systems, somatic (body) and mindfulness tools, as well as conventional talk therapy.
My favorite part of my job is the connections that I make with my clients, and the way getting to know you always feels to me like the unfolding of an engaging mystery. Our connection, and the commitment that arises with it, also becomes a valuable tool for your healing.
Other interests
When I'm not being a counselor, you can usually find me with my husband, daughter and pets at our home in Boulder, Colorado. We have a bit of a menagerie, including one dog, one cat and five chickens! I also spend as much time as I can in my vegetable garden (with and without the chickens to help). I love to ride my bike, swim, do yoga and Pilates and spend time in the mountains near Boulder.
