Is there something in your life that is preventing you from living in a more satisfying way? Whether you want to process a particular problem, recover from a recent or past trauma, let go of a negative behavior pattern, or wish to resolve intrusive feelings and emotions, psychotherapy can be of great benefit. Using an integrative approach, mixed with curiosity, humor, empathy and attention to explicit and implicit communication, it is my goal to help you live a more authentic and fulfilling life. I specialize in helping adolescents and adults with a range of issues including trauma, grief and loss (including pet loss), anxiety, depression, substance abuse/addiction, and life transitions. Sometimes our experiences transcend words, and as an art therapist, I offer the opportunity for expression in both visual and verbal language. It is a challenging task to undertake the journey to know oneself fully and to experience and accept all parts of oneself. We each have a unique story and it is my privilege to bear witness as you create and embrace yours.

Bio:

I have been using the creative process inherent in art making as a source of expression, joy, refuge, and self-understanding throughout my life. My early interest in communicating and finding meaning through the combination of images and words lead me to pursue a graphic design degree as an undergraduate in college. After working in the design field for several years, I felt driven to work more directly with people and to use myself as a tool in a meaningful way. Following my passion for art and a deep interest in psychology, I earned a Masters in Art Therapy from New York University. As an Art therapist and psychotherapist, I have worked with a diversity of populations, in a variety of clinical settings, including an outpatient mental health clinic, a residential drug treatment facility for adults living with AIDS, an outpatient substance abuse clinic, and several community based programs for children. My experience has emphasized issues stemming from childhood sexual/physical/emotional abuse, ptsd, grief and loss, and addiction. This field provides the opportunity to constantly grow personally and professionally. I am committed to expanding my knowledge and skill set by doing postgraduate training and continuing education courses and workshops.
