“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” Unknown.

Hi. I understand that when you're hurting, you need understanding and sensitivity. You might be struggling with a difficult psychological disorder or just need help untangling the complex web of life. Perhaps you are struggling with a difficult relationship, need to overcome a serious trauma, or want to surmount a weight or smoking problem through hypnosis. I am also certified to perform past life regression, which might afford you self enrichment or provide the key to understanding aspects of thoughts and feelings you have today.
Therapy is not a “one size fits all” discipline and fitting treatment to my individual client's personality and needs is a hallmark of my practice. I am skilled in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing,), Hypnosis, Past Life Regression, Relationship Counseling, or regular talk therapy, and will apply whichever technique or techniques in our sessions that promise the greatest benefit to you.
The following are some of the issues I work with: Depression, relationship issues, anxiety, chronic pain, divorce, gay/lesbian issues, grief, OCD, spirituality, trauma, dissociation, family and sexual problems. This is not an exhaustive list and I encourage you to write or call to discuss whatever has brought you to consider using my services. |

My Ph.D. is in psychology & counseling; my master’s degree is in marriage & family therapy. I've practiced psychotherapy for 23 years. |
Bio: |
I offer hypnosis for weight loss, smoking cession, labor and delivery, relief from anxiety or depression, breakups, professional development, etc.
To make trauma recovery easier, I offer EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing,) and body work (also known as sensorimotor psychotherapy.)
How EMDR Works During EMDR, we begin by agreeing on a memory that is upsetting. If that is hard to find, we go for a feeling, like anxiety or the sense that you are being cheated, and go backward to a memory or time when that began. We also identify beliefs that spring from these memories, like, “I will never be safe,” or “I should have done something,” or “I will never be good enough.” We explore the emotions and body sensations that stem from the episode.
Then we commence with a round of eye movement, where you follow my fingers back and forth, for 15-30 seconds. You then give me feedback about what you remembered, felt, or thought during the eye movement. We do eye movement again and continue the processing until you have resolved the disturbance and have come to embrace healthier beliefs about yourself.
How Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Works
Traditionally, psychotherapists have concerned themselves with treating a person’s feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships, but little attention was given to the body. Since all our life experiences are recorded in the nervous system, though, it makes sense to use body work to help a person get through issues. Many traumas, for instance--from car accidents to rape, profoundly affect the body in ways that are often inaccessible in talk therapy alone.
This kind of therapy is not about the therapist touching you; it’s about your being mindful of the body and following the felt sensations, with the therapist's guidance.
Since this is a "cutting edge" psychotherapy, and you may not be acquainted with it, please email me with any questions or concerns you have. |
