Practice Information
Making the decision to approach therapy or counselling is a positive one, although you may have questions or anxieties around it. Therapy and counselling provide an opportunity to reflect on where you are, where you want to be, the way you are living and the choices you are making.

At certain points in life every one of us can feel stuck, face challenges, frustrations a sense of dissatisfaction in the way we live our lives. Therapy and counselling offer you a private, and confidential space to explore, reflect and be heard, to gain clarity, and to challenge yourself.

The therapy/counselling process can help when you want to become unstuck and gain a better understanding of your own behaviour and the issues, feelings and events that motivate them. People of any age and background can grow and change from the experience of therapy.

Education
I have practiced as a therapist and counsellor for several years, working with groups and clients on an individual basis.

I have trained for seven years as counsellor and psychotherapist at post graduate level. I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy & Counselling from Regents College, an institution know for its academic excellence and professional high standards.

I consider continuous professional development essential to good practice and I am currently in the latter phases of an Advanced Diploma in Existential Psychotherapy. Despite my focus on an existential-phenomenological approach, I draw from numerous theoretical positions including gestalt, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and psychoanalysis.

I am a active member of the Society for Existential Analysis and a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP No.709336), which is the largest professional body for counselling and psychotherapy in the UK.
Bio:
There are a confusing array of approaches to psychotherapy and counselling; it can feel like a complete shot in the dark choosing one approach or therapist over another.

As a starting point, most essential is finding someone you feel comfortable with. It is widely recognised that the quality of relationship between client and therapist is integral in ensuring the most positive outcomes, and I see one of my tasks as helping you to feel at ease. As such, I don’t label or diagnose people, and I don’t sit for hours in silence and once in while, nod my head.

The form of psychotherapy I practice is existential-phenomenological. Now, I appreciate this may sound like a bit of a mouthful, but really it means I take an unprejudiced approach to what you bring to therapy. It is a form of therapy grounded in philosophy, exploring how you are living your life now, bringing to the fore what is important to you.

Our initial session is used to consider working together, and exploring your goals and expectations, any anxieties, and any other questions you may have. We can also consider short-tern or open-ended work, depending on what feels right for you.
