22 years experience, I specialize in relationship problems, any traumatic event in your life that left scars to clear and heal from, mood problems such as depression, anxiety, anger, stress, feelings of out of control or powerlessness, any challenges in making important decisions. I help with multi-cultural challenges and acculturation difficulties.

If you are not happy with your body, your weight, have physical pain, sleep problems I work holistically, which can lead to pain reduction, weight improvement, sleep improvement and feeling better about your outer appearance.
In couples counseling, the focus is on improving communication, negotiating differences, increasing personal responsibility, deepening love and finding creative ways to fulfill your needs
I use well researched and effective methods such as EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and new methods such as Brainspotting, Image Transformation and Hypnotherapy.
I facilitate Empowerment Yoga Therapy Groups, where I teach Kundalini Yoga and teach tools to elevate mood and succeed in life. |

Monika Summerfield graduated from the University of Social Work, in Germany as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She specialized in the treatment of drug addictions and counseling cancer and terminally ill patients.
In California, she received her License as a Marriage and Family Therapist in January 2005.
She has been providing case management and therapy for the past 19 years. Monika lived and grew up in three countries and offers therapy services in English, Spanish, German and French.
In the years 2001 to 2008, Monika worked as a Bilingual Clinical Therapist at Child Guidance Center and Catholic Charities, counseling families and individuals with issues of abuse, trauma or neglect.
For the past six years she offers Yoga Therapy Empowerment Groups by combining psychotherapy with yoga and meditation to maximize healing and well being.
In 2002 Monika co-founded Diamond Counseling Center and served as the Executive Director until July 2008. In this function she also supervised and mentored MFT psychotherapy interns. Since July 2008 she works in her own private practice in her office located in Huntington Beach.
For the past nine years, Monika has specialized in treating individuals suffering from trauma, dysfunctional relationships, sexual abuse, stress, anxiety, depression, anger issues and acculturation problems. She has facilitated many anger management groups, batterers' treatment programs, parenting and personal empowerment groups. She is experienced in working with families, couples and children. |
