Attuned and Compassionate Psychotherapy
I have been practicing therapy with individuals and families for several years. I have extensive training and experience treating eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and compulsive exercise) in both residential and outpatient settings, along with generalized anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress. I work with a range of clients, including those actively struggling with addiction or eating disordered behavior, self-injury, or OCD, along with clients working toward maintaining their recovery. I welcome the challenge of working with clients who have endured multiple lapses in their recovery process, because I understand recovery and personal growth is not only not linear, but is a lifelong journey. I also love working with clients who are seeking to understand themselves and their patterns on a deeper level. Whether you feel you are at a crossroads in life, wonder why you continue to experience failed or dissatisfying relationships, or simply value the insight and connection of a therapeutic relationship, I would be honored to assist you on your path. I believe and understand that all behavior is symptomatic of a deeper emotional wound, and one can not change their behavior in the present without resolving what is in the past. In all of my work, I utilize an attachment-based model based on the brilliant research of professionals like Pat Crittenden, Jeffrey Young, and Mary Ainsworth. I can assist you in identifying old attachment injuries and finally finding relief and acceptance of these wounds as you actively work toward changing your patterns in the present.

I am a psychotherapist who’s style is open, honest, warm, and down to earth! I derive from many theoretical approaches-mostly person-centered and solution-focused theories. I exhibit sensitivity and compassion towards your life challenges and strongly believe that there are workable solutions to all circumstances. I am available to assist you with your present lifestyle, set goals, and formulate a workable treatment plan. Along with the clients motivation and cooperation, we will work together to discover your strengths and abilities and apply those gifts towards your everyday life so that you may reach your full potential. With the client as an active participant, we will work together to explore your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and conflicts so that you will intentionally stay motivated for change and success. I am available as your psychotherapist to assist you as you face certain circumstances and difficulties in your life. Even though there are many circumstances that come up in our lives some which are beyond our control, we eventually have to intentionally find a way to maintain balance and move forward in life. Please remember, in order to be successful, one must think and act successful! Psychotherapy is about intentionally taking the time out for yourself to develop and evolve into your personal best. There are many individuals whom have learned coping strategies and techniques to overcome the most challenging circumstances in their life. You can be one of those individuals in this journey. Freedom from Depression and Anxiety!
You Don't Have to Struggle Alone, I Can Help!
Have you had a series of relationships that have not worked out? It could be that you have a pattern of picking "losers". But, even figuring that is true may not help you choose differently the next time. When you have a pattern the only common denominator is you. Does that mean you are doing something wrong? Definitely not. It is not a question of doing things right or wrong. It is rather a matter of what works and what doesn't work in relationships. One thing I have learned in over 30 years of counseling with individuals and with couples is that relationships don't come with an owner's manual. What I have found is that in any relationship there is a dance that we get into together. We are each not entirely aware of what our part of the dance is, but, we are very aware of what our partner does that we don't like. Armed with that, all too many couples get into repeated arguments that go round and round and don't do anything but repeat over and over again. Odds are, for better or worse, the dance we each do is repeated in each of our love relationships. This is where psychotherapy comes in. Working as a team in psychotherapy, I can help you discover what you might be doing that is getting in your way of having the relationship you want and deserve. Once you know what some of these things are, we can explore different ways of doing things. I want to provide you a safe, comfortable, and non-judgemental place to talk about your experiences and feelings. It is my job to see what life looks like to you and help you develop the strategies that will lead you to your heart's desire. My passion is helping people with relationships that haven't been working. Like many people,I know first hand how hard relationships can be. I also know that if you learn as much as you can about yourself, you can figure out what isn't working. I love helping people to figure this out. I am very gratified when people can make the love connections that they want and need. I know how important it is to be your own person, but, to also have that love relationship that makes most of us human beings thrive. If you are having trouble achieving the relationship of your dreams, I would like to help. Call me and let's get started. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Counseling for Adolescents, Adults, and Couples
When you are feeling depressed, anxious, lonely, or hopeless, it can be difficult to manage daily tasks. I help individuals, couples, and families work through challenges they have not been able to resolve on their own. Through individual therapy or couples counseling, you can learn to cope with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship problems, work/career issues, and feelings of hopelessness or helplessness. I can help you identify your strengths which can help you manage your stress more effectively. I understand that work, school, and family responsibilities can make it difficult to find an extra hour in your week for counseling. I have day, evening, and weekend appointments available to meet your needs. Children & Adolescents Growing up isn't easy. Children and teens are often faced with pressures and difficulties that they are not able to deal with alone. You should consider counseling if your child is exhibiting any of the following symptoms: Behavior changes Difficulty in school Withdrawn, few friends, avoiding others Unable to get along with others Extreme, frequent outbursts or tantrums Excessively sad, crying often Changes in appetite or sleep patterns Low energy, loss of motivation Loss of interest in activities Alcohol or drug use Extreme highs and lows Children and adolescents are often unable to express their emotions in healthy, productive ways. I will teach your child positive coping skills and communication techniques that will help him/her deal with the struggles he/she is facing. Adults Are you stressed, overwhelmed, or emotionally exhausted? Are you having difficulty getting along with your spouse, family, friends, or co-workers? Do you find yourself sleeping more to escape life’s problems? You have the potential to make change, and I can help. It’s possible to develop healthy relationships, improve your mood, and feel like yourself again! I have experience working with adults in the following areas: Anxiety Crisis Intervention Depression Domestic Violence Grief/Loss Mood Disorders Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Parenting Issues Relationship Issues Self-Esteem Stress Management Suicidal Thoughts Couples Do you and your partner hold on to anger and resentment from past issues? Do most conversations turn into arguments? Does communicating with your spouse make you feel emotionally drained? Couples often become so irritated with each other that they no longer communicate with each other in positive ways. They begin arguing about things that have little or nothing to do with the issue at hand. In many relationships, couples say hurtful things to each other when they are angry, and arguments continue to escalate. A wrong word or perceived wrong tone of voice can set the individuals off into a rage. The goal of couples counseling is to rebuild the emotional connection that can easily get lost in the midst of careers, children, and families. I can help you and your partner learn to effectively communicate the real issues, rather than continuing in the unproductive cycle you may find yourselves in.
