Counseling for Individuals and Couples
Counseling services are available for men, women and couples who are seeking to create new meaning in their lives and relationships. Areas of specialization include: Resolving Crises: For those experiencing crisis, I provide a peaceful, compassionate environment in which individuals in crisis can find a calm center amidst the storm that surrounds them. I have worked with people troubled by depression, anxiety and unresolved trauma. Together, we'll explore the meanings behind the human tendency to hold onto things long past their usefulness, and construct a new way forward.   Midlife Transitions: Human beings are meant to grow, emotionally and spiritually, throughout their lives. As our souls call out for change, many of us drown out that call with distractions (such as overwork, affairs, alcohol overuse), ignoring or perhaps fearing the challenge to be who we were meant to be. Men’s Issues Although women are highly intuitive, insightful and compassionate, there are times when a man in transition might prefer to interact with a therapist who’s shared a similar journey. I'll provide a supportive setting in which men can safely connect to their feelings to learn and grow. Addictions: When life overwhelms, Addiction can seem like a best friend, soothing our fears with comforting numbness. Developing new coping skills takes time and fearless honesty. I have extensive training working with clients who have allowed Addiction to control their lives. My approach is nonjudgmental, encouraging and patient. I don’t believe in powerlessness. I believe we all have the strength to change. Marital and Couples Counseling: The key to effective long-term relationships isn’t having two people say, do and think the same way. Shared interests and values between partners are important, but the key to successful relationships is the extent to which each partner is allowed to grow emotionally and spiritually. Yet people don’t advance at the same rate. When couples find themselves drifting apart or on a collision course, it can be helpful to pause, assess and set the course for a new future. Fully realized individuals are capable of sharing power, tolerating differences, and nurturing growth without feeling threatened, suffocated or diminished.

Caring Christian Counseling
My goal in counseling is to provide a safe environment to discuss some of life's most painful issues without fear of judgment. I believe that the most important indicator of change is the counseling relationship. Because of this I strive to form a trusting relationship with every client, and view the counseling relationship as one of partners in the healing process. I also believe that our relationship with God is a critical aspect of how we define ourselves. I provide Christian Counseling for those interested. Helping You Create Positive Change
Teens - Adults - Couples
It can be very difficult to take steps towards positive change or to seek support when facing challenge in your life. Therefore, my primary goal when working with a new client is to create a comfortable environment. I strive to get to know you and to understand what you want from our work. I believe that each person's needs will be different, so I draw from a wide range of techniques to tailor therapy to your specific goals. These tools can help you reduce symptoms, understand patterns in your life, improve relationships and accomplish your personal or professional goals. I practice a variety of research supported therapies, often drawing from cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, and humanistic techniques. While I work with most client concerns, I received specialized training with young adult populations, multicultural issues and social anxiety or shyness. My research has focused on concerns of multiracial or multicultural people. I consider myself very lucky to be able to work with clients towards healing, change and growth. I strive to honor my client's concerns by providing a safe space where all aspects of life can be discussed. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

I believe that a strong therapeutic alliance is a key component of effective and successful outcomes--I highly prioritize your need and right to feel safe, validated, supported, and heard without judgment as we collaboratively work toward your goals. I utilize evidence-based approaches and encourage your active engagement in therapy--it's not about me telling you what you should do, it's about me helping you discover and enhance the innate potential we all possess. I consider it a gift to be part of your journey toward self-empowerment, peace, and satisfaction in your personal and professional life. My clients appreciate me for being warm, safe, and non-judgmental. With couples and families, I respect multiple perspectives, foster trust with each participating member, and maintain a neutral, unbiased position. I am skilled at treating addiction issues and clients who are very doubtful about benefiting from counseling. I also am very experienced with treating depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. I have strong appreciation for ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic factors that influence personal identity, experiences, and values. If you are struggling with feeling hopeless and alone, please know that you deserve to feel hopeful, happy, and empowered. It is my privilege to support you.

Live Your Life Abundantly
I have a general adult out-patient practice. A good part of my practice is consulting for primary care physicians and other therapists about psychotropic medications and alternatives to medication if there is one. I see a lot of people with sleep problems, anxiety and Bi-Polar Disorder. I've also developed a specialty with young people who have failed to launch. These are often young men who are having a hard time finding their way in the world, are often living with their parents, can't keep jobs, not doing well in school, don't know what they want to do with their lives, or experience relationship failures. Often it is some small thing that has gotten off track that, once discovered, gets the person going again. That can be something like a small learning disability or minor ADHD, lack internal discipline, fears, discouragement, or lack of self-knowing.
