Assessment and Cognitive Behavior Therapy
Hi! My name is Dr. William Brock and I am a psychologist in the San Diego area. Being a psychologist provides an incredible opportunity to work with people and help them make a difference in their lives. I have worked with many types of problems and I take great pleasure in helping people become more successful and productive. I provide individual assessment, cognitive behavioral therapy, individual and family therapy. My goal as a psychologist is to assist clients with identifying and solving their problems. My approach is supportive and geared to helping a client create a better life. A session usually involves informal discussion and study. Clients and I work together to learn and apply the principles of cognitive behavioral psychology. Clients typically share their progress, successes and problems since the previous session. They may review results of any homework, learn and practice new coping strategies, participate in some type of relaxation &/or positive visualization exercise, and receive a new homework assignment. Children will usually select a game or activity to play with the therapist while learning communication and coping skills.

Strength-Based Psychotherapy
for Women and Adolescents
I have 24 years of clinical experience working with adults and families, specializing in adolescent psychology and women's issues. I am also trained in Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), a highly effective model for helping parents deal with disruptive behavior disorders in young children. My clinical specialty is trauma (sexual trauma in particular), and mood disorders. My theoretical orientation is humanistic, but I use many cognitive therapy tools and mindfulness-based techniques as well. Although I address the problem that brings clients to see me, I focus also on identifying each client's strengths and using those strengths to address the challenges they face.

Sliding Scale Psychotherapy, Specializing in Mindfulness
Mindfulness increases your ability to cope. It cultivates self-compassion, non-judgment, acceptance, and awareness – all vital to healing. Mindfulness encourages perspective and flexibility, strengthening overall mental health. It allows us to live in the present moment by recognizing thought patterns, letting go of unhealthy attachments, and ultimately getting us in touch with what it means to be more fully alive. Integrative An integrative framework involves mind and body. It examines how your worldview, defense mechanisms, physical and spiritual health, culture, family roles, and larger social systems are interconnected. Personality, past experiences, and beliefs are also looked at to understand how well-being is created and maintained. Healing involves exploring and being curious about these various aspects of your life and how they interact. Therapy facilitates this journey toward health, wholeness, and peace. Wellness Focused Therapy My therapeutic approach is wellness based, stemming from Positive Psychology, which focuses on strengths and values that empower the individual. This allows for innate and organic healing processes to take place. I believe this approach, together with Mindfulness and an Integrative framework, promote insight, shift, growth and balance in a most honoring and profound way. Therapy entails venturing inward, and nurturing internal wisdom to bring about this transformation
