Psychotherapy NY
Dr. Matthew Paldy, LP
I work with individuals and couples, ages 13 through adulthood. I look at the person in their entirety (the self) rather than only at their symptoms. My approach, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, is an extremely effective way to help people, in part because it addresses the role of the unconscious mind in the dynamics of your life experience. I'm interactive and listen carefully — sometimes called "listening with the third ear." Through therapy I can help you to better understand your symptoms and their causes, strengthen your sense of self, and feel more confident, calm, and clear.

I work in a warm, collaborative, interactive way. Sometimes we'll look at how your past experiences have manifested themselves in your present life, but more importantly we'll focus on what you are seeking, your hopes and wishes, and remove the barriers that are holding you back.

Prior to becoming a clinician I was in the corporate world, academics/college teaching, and developed the critical thinking program for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. In addition to my knowledge of psychology and the mind, I draw from this experience to help my patients more successfully navigate their lives.

I work with:
* Depression
* Anxiety
* Eating disorders
* Relationship and marital issues
* Dependency/codependency
* Adolescent/developmental issues
* Identity problems
