Hannah Schechter, M.A., NCC, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
Bethlehem, PA 18017
Counselor/Therapist in Bethlehem, PA
The need for therapy comes when we suffer and need relief. We suffer through worrying, sadness, and rejecting ourselves or changes in our lives. The troublesome feelings we experience often tell us where healing is needed and growth must occur. Growth calls us to therapy. Therapy can be a unique experience for each person. Sometimes, we engage in an undefined, yet active process, to embark on untapped facets of ourselves that have dictated our current suffering. Other times, therapy is a more direct and targeted process, tackling the here-and-now of a problem. Each person dictates their own therapy. When you and I meet, I can offer you a safe environment, supporting you to discover your own solutions. We will have a conversation about your past and your future. Then, we'll work together in the present to navigate our time in the way that you need. Hannah is a Pennsylvania Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) practicing psychotherapy and counseling in Bethlehem. She serves surrounding Lehigh Valley areas. Though Hannah is competent in providing treatment to adults of all ages, she has specialized training and an interest in counseling young adults and college students struggling with the following issues: Finding an identity as an independent adult within a world of possibilities Defining values and "what our lives will be about" Navigating relationships, intimacy, boundaries, and "feeling alone" Anxiety and confusion about life's expectations Hannah is skilled in treating adult individuals and couples of any sexual orientation and gender. She works primarily with anxiety, depression, poor self-image and self-compassion. She enjoys working with insightful clients that seek an understanding of life's transitional issues, such as loss, change, and relationship stress. She does not see children under the age of 18.

Other helpful treatment options that should be considered include family and relationship therapy, educational workshops, psychiatric medications, and psychological testing. Kaleidoscope ABA Therapy Services

ABA Therapy Treatment for Autism
Community/In-home and Center-Based
Kaleidoscope ABA provides one-to-one ABA therapy services in New Jersey and Massachusetts that empower children to create their own journey in life by reaching their highest potential. Kaleidoscope ABA Therapy Services provide intensive ABA therapy to clients in their home, community, or at one of our centers. Services individually tailored for the needs of your child. Assessment and Treatment Planning Our relationships always start with a comprehensive assessment by a Behavior Analyst that captures specific levels of behavior at a baseline to be used in the subsequent establishment of treatment goals. A carefully constructed, individualized and detailed behavior-analytic treatment plan is developed. The plan is followed up with ongoing and frequent direct assessment, analysis, and adjustments from our Behavior Analyst, based on a child’s progress as determined by observations and objective data analysis. Focused Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Treatment for Autism Focused ABA therapy services are provided to individuals who need treatment only for a limited number of key functional skills or have a specific acute problem behavior in which its treatment should be the priority. Treatment generally ranges from 10-25 hours per week of direct therapy. However, certain treatment programs for some behavior may require more than 25 hours per week of direct therapy. Comprehensive ABA Treatment Our Comprehensive ABA looks at producing changes across a broad set of functions including cognitive, adaptive, social, and emotional domains. Treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorder often involves 30-40 hours of one-to-one (1:1) direct therapy per week. Young or newly diagnosed children may start with a few hours of therapy per day, with the goal of increasing the intensity of therapy as their ability to tolerate and participate permits. The goal is to ultimately decrease hours of therapy per week when the child has met a majority of the treatment goals and is moving toward discharge. Social Skills Programs One of the most prevalent challenges for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder is in the area of social skills. This includes difficulty with observational skills, eye contact, play interactions, taking another’s perspective, making inferences, sharing enjoyment, and building relationships. Our Social Skills treatment programming works on functional skills including (but not limited to) establishing social communication skills, natural environment safety skills, and independent leisure skills making it possible to appropriately participate in family and community activities. One of our goals is to develop the lifelong ability to experience these events in a positive productive manner. Parent Participation Training Outside of treatment, it is important for parents to have the ability and techniques to reinforce the skills their child learns in therapy by incorporating them into daily routines. As with any skill, practice is critical. Parents actively involved in their child’s therapy often increase the progress made by their children. Our treatment plans include the appropriate parent participation and training to ensure they can reinforce their child’s development beyond the therapy setting.

Psychotherapy, whether it be for the individual, the couple, or the family can be an invaluable experience. Psychotherapy can mean coming to a better understanding of yourself—becoming an expert on the self. It can mean understanding others around you and understanding your relationship with them. There are a variety of reasons why people find therapy helpful. In addition to therapy's being instrumental in helping people confront depression, general anxieties, and drug and alcohol abuse, psychotherapy can also be a valuable tool in helping people through particularly stressful transition times. Every person, every family undergoes life transitions. Some transitions are more stressful than others, and the intensity of the stress may depend on a confluence of events. For example, for some, the death or illness of a family member may be the stressor for which they seek help. For others, it is a career change or a geographic move. Other transitions that may precipitate the need for therapy include the birth of a child, the dissolution of a marriage, or “simply” the youngest's leaving home. Such life events marshal changes in our lives and create a disequilibrium. To learn skills to understand and hurdle the disequilibrium, psychotherapy can be of immense and lasting value.
