Physical Therapy Specialists
Dawn Sandalcidi, the owner, is a nationally recognized authority in the field of pediatric incontinence in physical therapy, and she provides national training for professionals interested in TMJ, back and neck, and pelvic floor muscle issues. Physical Therapy Specialists began in 1989 with a vision of being different than other clinics. Times were changing and managed care was taking over challenging the quality and quantity of time we were able to spend with patients. It became more apparent that patients deserved more than insurance companies could allow. Specializing and focusing on the individual needs of each patient in a private environment was the best fit for our vision. Our goal remains to treat patients based on their individual needs, one-on-one in a private setting, and help each patient return to function and activities that are important in their daily lives.

4 Important Questions To Ask Before Choosing Your Physical Therapist 1. Do You Specialize In My Problem? Physical Therapists fall into two categories - Generalists who treat a little bit of everything and Specialists who treat patient with a specific set of needs. My experience is that in every profession the Specialist is the better choice. A Specialist will be able to (1) more quickly and effectively diagnose your problem and (2) have the skills and tools necessary to treat you and get you better fast. 2. Do You Take My Insurance and What Are My Financial Obligations? To make the most of your health insurance benefits be sure your provider is "in-network". You can call their office and ask or you can call your health insurance provider (check the back of your insurance card to find the number). Also - call your insurance company to find out if you have a deductible, if so how much remains until it is met, and if you will have a copay or co-insurance (and if so, how much that will come to). 3. Where Is Your Closest Office (to my location)? It is common to go and see a Physical Therapist 2 to 3 times per week for several weeks - and that can turn out to be a significant time commitment. For the sake of saving time during travel you should look for an office that is close to your home, workplace or school. 4. Will I Be Seeing The Same Therapist From Visit To Visit and Are They Licensed? I believe that the best care you can get is that which is provided by the same therapist from visit to visit. This allows for consistency and an understanding of your personal situation and progress. As well you should make sure that your therapist (whether a Physical Therapist or a Physical Therapy Assistant) is properly and currently licensed.
