Effective Therapy Creates
Meaningful, Lasting, Joyful Change
Each of us is unique, complex and special. Together we can resolve the inner and outer conflicts that create pain and exhaustion. Our life often brings experiences not of our choosing. Sometimes we’re hurt by others. Sometimes we don’t fit easily into the world we live in. Sometimes what life brings feels too big to accept and manage. I can help you find peaceful and practical ways of doing the best you can with what is, of managing your self and situations with compassion and skill, of finding joy and nourishment in this life at this time. For over 25 years I have been practicing my craft with children, adolescents, middle adults, elders, couples and families. They have come to me with developmental, situational and relational issues. Some had experienced tragedies; some felt overwhelmed by their children or partner. Some were deeply grieving, some filled with anger. Some had illnesses or disabilities they wish they didn’t. Each of them added to my understanding of what it is to be human. Most of us long for happiness, self acceptance, caring relationships and success in our endeavors. Together, drawing from my extensive training and experience and your inner and outer resources, we can create meaningful, lasting and joyful change.

Therapist / Teletherapy
The truth of what is essential to know, you are whole just as you are, and you do not need to be,fixed. You may have been through unforgettable experiences such as Systematic oppression, racism, homophobia that created the belief you are not good enough or that you are less then enough. All of these untruthful messages get internalize and often become the story of your inner critic. This builds an even stronger falsehood. What is wrong with me? This health crisis can stir up past past trauma or create new shock waves of uncertainty. Therapy will expand your capacity to cope and ignite your sense of hope. Hope has the power to build resilience and support mental health even in difficult times. I am now doing exclusive tele health session. I use a HIPPA compliant platform it offers a secure client portal.

Empathic, Non-Judgmental Therapy for Adults
Individuals and Couples
I believe that everyone encounters periods in their lives when they can use the guidance and support of an empathic therapist. When I work with clients I am respectful of where they are in their lives, and I strive to provide them with the insight, tools and skills they need to move forward effectively and productively. The basis of the client-therapist relationship is confidentiality. It's important for a client to feel safe within the four walls of my therapy office when talking about very personal issues. Clients can expect me to respect their confidentiality to the fullest extent possible, and to be honest with them about my policies and procedures so that there are no surprises. For example, at the outset of therapy I explain to clients that there is one exception to confidentiality, and that is where I perceive there to be child abuse. In those cases, I am mandated by law to report the situation to authorities.

Individual, Couples & Group Therapy
I understand the importance of developing resilience-to-change in order to effectively cope with major life transitions; loss and endings (divorce, retirement, serious medical illness) as well as beginnings (new relationships, marriage, birth of a child, starting a career). Without such resilience, life can feel overwhelming, self esteem becomes precarious, and mood can dip dramatically. As a licensed clinical psychologist, with more than 30 years experience, my clients value my warm, collaborative approach to relationship issues, executive stress, inter-generational conflicts, mid-life issues, and self-defeating behaviors that keep people stuck. Previous experience as an officer and director of a publicly traded company, as well as in the practice of business law, have uniquely equipped me to help entrepreneurs and executives with a variety of interpersonal business-related issues. I understand legal and business issues in a way that facilitates working with those having difficulties with employers, employees, and co-workers. I can also effectively help with difficulties relating to the stress of balancing work with other life issues. I also work with adolescents who face more than the usual growing pains, parents who want to do a better job with their children, and couples (in both traditional and non-traditional relationships), helping them to relate in more emotionally-satisfying ways. As Co-Director for 10 years, of the Center for Coping with Chronic Illness, I have helped patients and their families, as well as professional caregivers, deal with the impact of the ongoing medical concerns. I work with clients in individual, couples or group psychotherapy or a combination of these, depending on the goals of treatment. In general the clients I see in psychotherapy include homemakers, college students, stressed executives, academics, and other high functioning professionals. Many of my clients find my background in law and business to be a good fit for understanding their issues and conflicts. The treatment issues that I specialize in and and the diverse populations that I work with are listed below. My services may be covered by your insurance plan. Even if I am not listed on your panel of providers, some coverage may be available to you if you have out-of-network benefits. Health mind. Healthy Family.
Treatment is results oriented, which means we work together at the beginning to define the changes that are meaningful to you. In a basic sense, psychotherapy is for thinking about feelings. We are all part of systems, be they family, work or society. The outcome is more freedom to be yourself. With children, treatment approach is family-centered. In the long run, the best therapist for your child is you, the parent. Parent consultation is an integral part of treatment for children and teens. Play space, art therapy and parent observation available. Psychological testing and family meetings are options. In Couples Counseling or Marital Therapy the patient is the relationship. In couples treatment, i thoughtfully guide your interactions to encourage better understanding of each other. This approach reduces the tendency to blame one another for differences, and leads the two of you into your own manner of accepting them. Pet-Assisted Therapy (PAT).

Holistic Therapist, Looking Forward to
Challenging Cases from People Needing My Expertise
I am a holistic therapist, looking forward to challenging cases from people needing my expertise. Making use of a wide variety of therapies, from verbal to non-verbal, devoting much time on each of the select cases I take, and engaging in colleague consultations, I am often able to help with even the most difficult of issues. I also see children, doing family therapy even for the toughest kids. You'll see the difference family support makes, rather than my just trying to "fix the kid". I often begin with symptom-focused behavioral counseling to attempt rapid symptom improvement. When people stay beyond that brief initial period of basic counseling, we move into long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy to find and remedy the problem’s root cause. I encourage people to call me and we can talk about what your particular issues are and how I will be able to help you out. Or, if there is something I can't help you with, I will help you find the best regional expert for your issue.
