Having learned Traditional Chinese Medicine, Cera Lynn has taken an eclectic approach to Acupuncture. Her experience with Japanese needling techniques, shiatsu, and Dr. Tan’s Balancing methods have given her a selection of choices for individual needs. Some of us have different responses to healing techniques and Cera’s intuitive approach brings fruitful results. What is Oriental Medicine? Acupuncture is a different paradigm of medicine. Nature and elemental theory merge to diagnose and treat chronic and acute illnesses. In addition, TCM maintains optimum health in those individuals who actively wish to prevent disease. How Does Acupuncture Work? Qi or the “Life Force” flows through a network of twelve major pathways or “meridians.” These correspond to specific organs, such as the heart, spleen, liver, etc. Along these meridians are specific acupuncture points which affect the corresponding organ system. These points are also used to treat different conditions of disease. When the acupuncture needles are inserted into these specific points, the meridians are opened to allow the “qi” to flow properly, thus restoring health by balancing and harmonizing the energy to the organs. What Medical Conditions Can Oriental Medicine Treat? In China, acupuncture is used for most conditions of dysfunction as well as being an adjunctive treatment for cancer patients. Degenerative diseases are improved; as well as speeding the healing time for post-surgicial procedures. Help Your Body Heal Itself with Acupuncture!
Hi…. I’m Dr Elizabeth Stephenson. I am an acupuncture physician in Daytona Beach, Florida. It is my belief that our bodies are designed to heal themselves. Most of the time the body does this job perfectly. For example, if you cut yourself, you can just put a bandage on the wound and it will heal. You have a team of inner resources that flows with your blood to areas of the body that need attention. Red blood cells carry oxygen to nourish our tissues at the cellular level. White blood cells and platelets are always ready to respond to assaults from the environment. Other members of the team include the neurotransmitters, endorphins and hormones that keep your body healthy, balanced and vibrant. This all goes on behind the scenes, with little thought or attention from the consciousness that is in ownership of the body. As a practitioner of Chinese Medicine, I have found that the further people live from the natural life, the more likely the body will be unhealthy. Florescent lighting, processed foods, sedentary lifestyles, and the stresses of our modern society all take their toll on our nervous systems. Sometimes our energy circuits get blocked, causing our organs to have difficulty in communicating with each other. This is when the body needs acupuncture, herbs or massage to restore health. An acupuncture physician is a lot like an electrician. We insert tiny sterile needles into precise points to encourage the body’s healing resources to enter the targeted area. This opens up new pathways for the healing energy of the body to travel… a new way for your body to actually heal itself.

Acupuncture Physician, in Practice Since 1980's
I have an eclectic practice, using Acupuncture and massage techniques, which are determined, specifically for each person, individually. I have been able to help people who are in pain, who have had injuries, or have headaches, problems with their hearing, ear infections, people who can't sleep, who have digestive problems to even depression and for those who just need help with chronic problems. I also work with my husband, Doug Tessler, who offers live healing music; Together, we offer Qi Gong workshops and help people, in groups and "One on One". I look at each person's diet and their surroundings. I usually go to people's homes, as I work with the "Alpha-Stim", which helps your own body, produce extra encephalons and endorphins, which can change your body chemistry, significantly. ~ Because of this change, I feel that people, after a treatment, should be able to relax and not have to drive anywhere, afterwards. So, I come to you. Tho, I do also practice, out of a few offices, and can offer an office location, as well, to patients. I especially like helping the elderly. I have worked with people who have Parkinsons and have helped reduce their shaking. I've worked with people, with health challenges ranging from back pain, to depression and insomnia, to even just foot pain, like plantar fascitis. I have also helped women with menopausal symptoms thru acupuncture. Also, due to the FOUR things, that United Health Care, will now pay for - I would like to share their list for comedic relief ~ As, United Health Care's list, only covers these four things ~ Yes, it is quite funny and almost entertaining .. to share, that United Health Care Insurance, will now cover and accept, and pay Acupuncture Physicians to treat only 4 things ! and the envelope - please ; Unfortunately - this may seem - like material, for a stand up comedy routine - But for now - this is the new 2021 Info - - Most importantly, United Health Care will NOW - pay for NOT only post surgical pain, - due to Dental surgery ! ~ BUT - Now, I have to update this as United Health Care will now - also let you call an Acupuncture Physician and cover treatment, for Low Back pain ! Tho, I will assure you, that Acupuncture has helped many people around the world, for hundreds of years, United Health Care is so far only recognizing the effects that Acupuncture can have on Low Back pain and will NOT cover Acupuncture treatments, for much of any other kind pain, besides dental pain after or due to post surgical pain. However, I will point out, that I have helped a lot of people who have had post surgical pain from Dental surgery, so I will agree that Acupuncture can help and has helped many people with dental pain ! I also have helped people with the other three other things, that United Health Care, is willing to offer to pay Acupuncture, for ; 1 - Nausea and vomiting from post surgery 2 - Nausea and vomiting from pregnancy and 3 - Nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy, ~ I also teach people, about the health benefits of a healthy diet and how to prepare raw foods ~ Plus .... I also teach about Qi Gong & teach people, about How to use essential oils and How to make your water safe to drink, without floride. Please also know that I can help you, find the right supplements and safe products to use for yourself and to use in your home, too !

If you live in the Tempe – Phoenix area, chances are you’ve found your way to this page because you’re tired of pain, fed up with weight loss, burned out by stress, or are just plain tired of being tired! (d. all of the above?) You’ve come to the right place. I can help. If you’re like most people, you probably don’t know too much about acupuncture treatments, and might have even thought about running away at the thought of needles somewhere on this page. No worries! Even the burliest ex-football player tattooed Marines tend to be nervous about this stuff, but let me be the first to put those fears to rest. Imagine this: a place where you can go that feels as cozy as your living room. You sit down and have a chat – I mean really talk about you: your devotion to your brilliant two-year old, your 3:00 chocolate cravings, that ridiculous knee pain that screams at you during bowling night , and your quest to find out where you left your energy. Mind and body, it’s all you – and it’s all related (you knew you weren’t crazy, right?) That’s the beauty of Chinese medicine. After your chat, you get to have the deepest, most amazing nap, blissfully drifting in a sea of tranquil music and warm heat therapy. If you closed your eyes, you were probably oblivious to those tiny needles that somehow magically rearranged everything in there and made you feel like things were just right in the world again. Seriously. It feels that easy. If you’re tired of conventional treatments (pills, surgery, injections) and conventional wisdom (“you’re getting older,” “it’s just arthritis,” “learn to live with it,”) give health another chance. You deserve it. I’ll try to make sense of it all for you here. I want to get to the core of your health issues and I know you do too. Using acupuncture, acupressure, natural herbal medicine and personal nutrition plans, we can optimize your body’s healing and help you reclaim your energy and well-being.

What Makes Japanese Acupuncture Special Thinner Needles -The obvious differences between Japanese style acupuncture and that of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) are that the needles are far finer (using needles barely thicker than a human hair), and that they are inserted often barely deeper than 1 or 2mm, with an absolute minimum of manipulation. In some instances, they are not inserted at all. -For a first-time acupuncture patient who is worried about needles, Japanese acupuncture might be the style to try first because it tends to be more comfortable for the patient. -In Japanese Meridian Therapy there is a focus on conserving the Qi of the patient. The practitioner must be mindful of ways the patient can lose qi: needling (especially deep needling or strong stimulation of the needle), stress, and the inappropriate use of a guide tube More Emphasis on Palpation -The diagnosis is very hands-on. In fact, 40% of licensed acupuncturists in Japan are blind, so there is much emphasis on touch and palpation. -Much like Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), we look at the tongue and pulse to see what’s going on at a deeper level in the body. -Unlike TCM, we also do abdominal palpation where the abdomen is split up into different areas to represent different organ systems. We can tell a lot about what is going on by palpating the abdomen. -Also, instead of just choosing acupuncture points from a textbook based on point functions, we palpate the channels in order to decide which acupuncture points are most appropriate for the individual patient. Front and Back Treatments -We always treat the front and back side of the body. This promotes balance. -We assess both the root and branch of the presenting illness. We cannot just look at the local area of pain; instead we must look at the person’s individual constitution. We must figure out what underlying deficiencies allowed this disease process to take place. Then we can strengthen from the root so the illness will not come back. -Every person is born with a constitutional deficiency of one of the main yin organ systems. We look at different characteristics and features of the individual to help us assess what the constitutional deficiency is and how it led to the current state. If Japanese Acupuncture sounds right for you, then make an appointment with us. We look forward to meeting you!
