Garden Studio, Former Lawyer, Business Consultant
Therapy takes courage and I understand how difficult it can be to pick up the phone or email, to take that first step. I help people by working in a humanistic, relational way. The important thing is the affinity that can be developed. Together, we work to see what may be possible, what the options are when talking about whatever is causing you distress. I deal with all kinds of concern, including relationship issues, offering couples counselling for affairs, a sense of betrayal, divorce, separation, sexual or emotional abuse. Other concerns that clients bring include depression, stress, alcoholism, bereavement, obsessive behaviours, feelings of aloneness, inability to connect, workplace concerns, redundancy, or a feeling of being stuck or blocked and thus wanting to see how that might be addressed. My garden studio offers clients the chance to talk in a peaceful setting. I am a former lawyer, journalist and business consultant. Clients say they value talking to someone with experience in other walks of life. Whatever is troubling you, I help you feel at ease so you can explore what you need to talk about in confidence at your own pace. Sessions may be solutions orientated with an agreed number of them, usually about 12, or what you bring may be something that warrants longer term work and will therefore be more open ended.

Addressing Transgenerational Issues
I assist individuals, couples and Families with their emotional wellbeing. My approach combines the best traditional psychotherapy methods ,- helping you to create powerful and meaningful goals and develop and execute clear strategies to achieve them - with proven skills of counselling and change. I will work with you on the change you need to introduce to your life. I will provide you with tools and techniques that are proven to enable you to overcome the biggest of challenges and create the beliefs, habits and capabilities that can transform your life. I work with the whole system of relationships that surrounds you - being it your family, workplace or your culture . Systemic Constellation is a therapeutic process conducted in a single session to deal with difficulties you experience with your partner, family or work relationships. Family Constellations can be a stand-alone approach to Personal Growth, or a useful support to other forms of Counselling, Coaching or Therapy in either an Individual Session or a Workshop or Online or Telephone . The actions of others in your family system can have significant (and often deeply unconscious) effects on you - even across generations. In constellation we look at the connection of your current life issues and problems to the past generations in your family. Usually there will be immediate relief and clarity of your issues, however it is not a quick-fix, short-lived solution. It can take some months for the full benefits of a single Family Constellation to unfold in your life and the lives of those connected to you, even when they haven't participated in the Family Constellation themselves. In my work I bring warmth and wise heart along with twenty years experience as a therapist through which I have brought healing, and long lasting resolution to clients from many walks of life. can assist you in this process and you will learn new ways of dealing with your life obstacles Together we can create strategies in order to re-shape relationships which cause you difficulty. Relationship and Family Therapy
Lets talk together to make your life easier
My work focuses on on relationship issues. I work with individuals, couples and families and all the issues that that includes, anxiety, separation, escalating rows, communication to name but a few. I am a professionally qualified and experienced therapist with a private practise in Twickenham and Staines. I have an Master of Arts degree in Relationship and Family Therapy in addition to my private practise I also work with Relate at several locations. Whether you are looking for help for yourself, your marriage, your children or your whole family, I can offer you confidential, professional help rooted in my experience and training. I can provide you with a safe, confidential space in which to talk about and explore the issues which are troubling you. It may seem hard to find the right counsellor or therapist or even know quite what you are looking for. Please feel free to call or e-mail me with any questions you may have without any obligation at all. I'll be more than pleased to answer any queries you may have so you find what is right for you. What people say about me: "Many thanks I feel like me again. I would not hesitate to come back and see you again if I needed to" (Individual) "I thought we were going to sit in silence for an hour but we both found having you there helped us to talk and more importantly listen to one another and once we started talking we couldn't stop!" (Couple) "For all of us to sit down together and talk was amazing - I cant remember the last time we did. We would so recommend you to our friends." (Family) When we first meet: During our initial consultation we will discuss the reasons you are seeking help and you will have the chance to ask any questions about what happens in therapy and express any worries or concerns you may have. This first meeting also gives us the opportunity to think about working together, we will also go through the frequency and length of time that you will see us for. How can counselling help? Sometime it is hard to manage the feelings that you have and talking things through with a therapist can be truly liberating. Sometimes admitting that you are finding things too much gives you what you need to seek help and start to address what is bothering you. We look together to develop your autonomy and if you are in a relationship at rekindling respect and trust of each other. Other areas of counselling I deal with Young People Counselling. We currently work with Young People aged between 8 and 18 and together we look at the issues they are dealing with from their parents separating to behaviour issues, self harm, school refusers - we work at their pace to improve their lives. The work is confidential and the young people decide if they would like a parent present in the sessions. Post IVF Counselling. There are often relationship issues which arise from an unsuccessful IVF treatment and couples often do not realize until too late the issues that they are facing because of IVF - we look at these issues together and resolve a lot of the unspoken issues of loss and gender differences which the relationship faces because of this. Family counselling . We can help create a safe and neutral space for you to come as a family and talk about what is bothering you - it may be you are a blended family, it maybe one of you just is not getting and your arguments are escalating and causing increasing distress for you all. Whatever it is counselling can give you another way of looking at things and a safe place to discuss what is bothering you. Making the decision to approach therapy or counselling is a positive one, although you may have questions or anxieties around it. Therapy and counselling provide an opportunity to reflect on where you are, where you want to be, the way you are living and the choices you are making. At certain points in life every one of us can feel stuck, face challenges, frustrations a sense of dissatisfaction in the way we live our lives. Therapy and counselling offer you a private, and confidential space to explore, reflect and be heard, to gain clarity, and to challenge yourself. The therapy/counselling process can help when you want to become unstuck and gain a better understanding of your own behaviour and the issues, feelings and events that motivate them. People of any age and background can grow and change from the experience of therapy. There is no ‘wrong’ time to begin

Every day people ask us how we are. Most of us give reflex answers like ‘Not bad’ and bounce the question back. What if the question stayed with you? If you were being completely honest, how would you answer? How would you expect that the questioner would react? In an ideal world, how would you like them to be with you? When we are struggling with painful problems or keen to live a more enjoyable life it can be helpful to talk with someone who is empathic, knowledgeable, and skillful at facilitating change. This is what I offer. I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist with qualifications and experience in NLP, hypnotherapy, and contemporary shamanic approaches. I offer psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and businesses. Like all psychotherapists I am committed to: - Honouring the trust you place in me - Respecting your right to choose for yourself - Promoting your well-being (I am professionally supervised) - Avoiding causing you harm (I am insured) - Treating you fairly - And practicing what I preach by understanding and caring for myself Some of the things that make me different are: Some of the reasons you may choose to work with me are: - Sessions go deep - often resolving patterns that have been passed on through the family. - Sessions create rapid change - I coach clients to identify and confront their fears at a pace which is right for them. - Clients are treated as a team member rather than as a victim who needs saving. - Energetic rapport enables me to sense what is going on with their energy bodies. - 90 and 70 minute sessions are significantly longer than the standard 50 minute 'hour'. - I don't expect you to stick to a regular appointment time so you have more flexibility to choose when to come.

Counselling
I am a counselling psychologist and psychotherapist in private practice in Canary Wharf. I am recognised by the UK's leading professional organisations for counselling and psychotherapy, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) as well the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists (UKCP) and I am a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), the governing body for psychologists and the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). I combine my leaning towards academic accomplishment with a down-to-earth and approachable manner in working with clients. I have worked clincially in a number of settings and with clients from a variety of backgrounds and presenting difficulties. These settings have spanned hospital contexts, not-for-profit organisations as well as private practice. I currently work with leading insurance and Employee Assistance Programmes to meet the high-quality service demands of their corporate clients. I am a recognised by Aviva, AXA PPP, Bupa and Cigna. I also accept GP referrals in Tower Hamlets and am experienced in working with a diversity of concerns. I am also very pleased to hear from private individuals considering entering counselling and so I have endeavoured to make my practice as accessible as possible in terms of affordability, disability and diversity. On a more personal note, I am South-African born and have been living in London for the previous 13 years. On relocating myself in the UK, I set about establishing dual career paths. Before dedicating my career to psychotherapy and psychology, I also worked in the pressurised world of the media and communications departments in high-profile organisations. The blend of my two cultural and professional backgrounds helps me bring a grounded and practical stance to what might seem like lofty and inaccessible psychological ideas. My areas of work I work generally with individuals facing common human struggles and couples wanting to resolve their difficulties. We all go through rocky periods in our lives and therapy can help you smooth a way forward. Some examples of how therapy can help you move through difficulties include: Understanding what might be causing problems and repetitive patterns. Clarifying what direction you want to take in your life. Exploring problems with intimate relationships or family members. Overcoming trauma - be it from childhood or more recently. Coping with loss and bereavement. Managing workplace issues such as stress, bullying and career decisions. In particular, I have worked extensively with bereavement, domestic violence and adult survivors of childhood abuse. In addition, examples of my experience include stress, identity issues, panic disorders, eating disorders and self harm, anxiety and depression.

There is currently a ‘buzz’ about mindfulness and the specialist expertise of The BeingWell grounds and deepens our mindfulness offerings. The BeingWell practitioners have solid background knowledge and experience of working with the human mind. We have a coherent knowledge of why and how Mindfulness works rather than rolling out an off-the-shelf tool. We understand mindfulness within wider psychology – both traditional and contemporary. East London
I offer psychoanalytic psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, couples and families and groups in my private practice in East London and Central and through Skype. After two sessions of consultation I can offer once to five times per week sessions. Normally it takes at least one to two years to get results. I offer individual psychoanalytic psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults that experience emotional difficulties in order to understand the unconscious reasons behind and to restore the balance in the mind. The setting that I offer is a space where the person can express whatever comes to the mind and to establish a relationship with me that will help the growing process. With children I use the play technique where the child uses the play and drawings to expresses the emotions and I give back an understanding of the meaning. With adolescent and adult the words are the main medium of meaning and understanding how to further the development process. From one session to four sessions per week is the space where is possible to explore the inner reasons of any psychological and emotional difficulties.

Seeking To Resolve Your Difficulties?
Do you want to make changes to improve your life?
If you're reading this, you are probably feeling stressed or held back by issues, and are keen to improve how you both feel and function in life? My particular expertise is in working with abuse and trauma, helping you to free yourself from the very disturbing effects of these issues. I'm trained to use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) as a standalone psychotherapy and have been accredited by the EMDR Association of UK & Ireland to do so. However, in addition, as an accredited and UKCP registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor I work with many other difficulties which you might bring. I utilise a wide variety of other methods I have at my fingertips, to help you reduce or completely clear your problems. My uniquely personal approach has evolved and been refined over 30 years and is still open to further change. My approach is underpinned by a calming and respectful relational style. I integrate NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy & Mindfulness), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing), Systemic Couples Therapy & other more creative processes in my extensive skills set. I can integrate these methods to help you raise your self-awareness and to help you gain positive learning and self-understanding, with an eye to both inner and outer change. Thus my resources for facilitating change are wide and varied. My focus is in creating a truly holistic environment in which to help increase your inner sense of well-being, both in one-to-one work, couple work and also in small, personal groups of up to 4. Well-being means many things to many people, but for me includes a positive sense of self and a sense of satisfaction in life and for some, a sense of safety and wonder at the power of the ever-present, invisible vibrational field around us. My experience includes running Co-Counselling Groups, Counselling Skills Training Groups and other personal growth groups focussing on Parenting, Communication Skills, The Mind-Body Connection & also Developing a Sense of Soul. My focus now is in creating a holistic approach to improve your sense of Well-Being. Of relevance too is the fact that for the last 10 years I have specialised in providing Short-Term Counselling for employees nationwide whilst working for various Employee Assistance Programmes in different capacities. I am thus aware of many of the issues facing individuals in the corporate world and how personal issues may impact upon your working life.

Core Process Psychotherapy is an embodied mindfulness-based approach facilitating a greater awareness of the interplay between thoughts, emotions and body sensations and how these in turn express habitual patterns of relating to ourselves and others. Patterns that may restrict or keep you stuck within a limited range of responses in key areas of your life. By learning to turn, without judgement, towards rather than away from painful emotions it's possible to develop greater flexibility and responsiveness when faced with life's challenges. Short term and longer term work with adults. Call for a free initial consultation.

Individual, Couple and Group Psychotherapy
Director Brighton Therapy Centre
Howard Edmunds works at Brighton Therapy Centre, located in central Brighton, 5 minutes walk from the rail station. Howard offers individual, couple and group psychotherapy. Individual psychoanalytic psychotherapy can help to understand the underlying causes behind emotional difficulties. Counselling is often shorter in length and addresses specific life issues or changes. Couple Therapy is used to enable better communication between couples and to enable them to work on their issues between sessions, such that it usually takes place fortnightly or monthly. Group Psychotherapy has been shown to be as effective as individual psychotherapy. It is especially helpful for those lacking social confidence, who have not been able to form satisfying relationships or want to be more comfortable when relating in groups.

Integrative Psychotherapist
I am a fully qualified psychotherapist and member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I offer a confidential, open-minded, non-judgmental style of working which respects the ideas, knowledge and wisdom which clients bring into therapy. I am an Integrative Psychotherapist which means that I am trained in, and can apply, different theoretical approaches. My psychotherapy practice is mainly based on humanistic and psychodynamic principles, although I also use ideas from the cognitive, behavioural and transpersonal therapies. The therapy I offer involves a 50-minute session at a regular time each week. The length of therapy is agreed on an individual basis, depending on the needs of the client and what they want from the therapy. I work with people age 18 and upwards. I hold an anti-discriminatory ethos and welcome requests for therapy regardless of factors such as ethnic origin, nationality, or sexual orientation. Booking an Appointment: If you would like to book an appointment, please contact me with a few sentences telling me about the problem or problems you would like help with. I will usually reply to your email within 24 hours. If I am available to work with you, I will usually offer you an appointment within the next 10 days. I will send you a short form to fill in with some basic information such as your contact details. What happens in a first session? In our first session of therapy there will be three areas of focus. Firstly, I will begin to explore with you your reasons for seeking therapy at this time. Secondly, I will ask you for some background information about yourself, for example your family, your health, and whether you have had counselling or therapy before. Thirdly, you will have the opportunity to ask me any questions you may have about the therapy and to express any hopes or fears about what the therapy will be like. The first session will be charged at my usual rate of £40, or £35 if you are eligible for a concessionary rate. Travel information: My consulting room is within walking distance of Oxford city centre, on St Clements. By car – You can park at one of the car parks nearby - St Clements Car Park near the Angel and Greyhound pub, or the car park behind Tesco off Cowley Road. Clapham Common Counselling
For Adults and Adolescents
I offer face-to-face sessions for individual adults and adolescents, at the Clapham Common Clinic which is found above Boots the chemist on Clapham High Street, Our initial meeting will be an opportunity for us to determine if we will be happy to work with one another. If we do agree to continue, I offer two types of sessions. Firstly, there is the short, fixed term form, where we decide on a certain number of sessions; this is especially useful in circumstance where finances are tight. Secondly I offer open ended therapy, where we do not fix the number of sessions, so allowing ourselves the time and pace best suited to a sensitive understanding and remedy to the situation in which you find yourself. Sessions last 50 minutes. In event of you cancelling I offer opportunity to reschedule within the same working week if possible; in rare instance that I cancel a session and we cannot reschedule there is no charge to you. My Clapham practice is less than 5 minutes walk from Clapham Common tube station (Northern Line). The area is well served by multiple bus routes.
